The Right to Approval

The insistence by people of any sexual persuasion that others approve of their actions has always struck me as oppressive or fascistic, not “liberating” or “enlightened.” Then I ran into this wonderful essay in Eternity Road that includes this great quote from that great thinker Thomas Sowell of the Hoover Institution:
As Thomas Sowell has written, if Smith has a right to Jones's approval, then Jones has no right to his own opinion. Jones must approve of Smith and must be able to prove it; if not, he can be made to face a legal penalty.
