Chuck Todd Suggests That Trump Voters 'Wanna Be Lied to' Because Noah's Ark or Something

Chuck Todd is a nasty anti-Christian bigot.

On Sunday's episode of NBC's Meet the Press, host Chuck Todd plumbed new depths of journalist malpractice, essentially implying that people of faith can support President Trump because they grow up believing in fairy tales.

After reading some bigoted nonsense that Todd says is "fascinating," Todd piggybacks on the bigotry, saying that voters just "wanna be lied to" and are averse to being told "hard truths."

Anti-Semitic Attacks Show Need for Arms

THE STOOPID! IT BUUUUURNS!

How else does one stop a machete-wielding villain from chopping up one’s loved ones? Kind words?

Jewish people in the United States have a longstanding aversion to firearms ownership. It’s a ridiculous one, to be sure, since the Torah actually commands Jews to defend their lives with lethal force, if need be. Given Jewish history and the continued anti-Semitic abuses of the Jewish people, it’s hard to believe that so many Jews think that doing nothing and remaining passive victims is the way to stop anti-Semitic attacks.

On the pro-gun side is the famous Talmudic dictum: If someone comes to kill you, rise up and kill him first. This statement from the Talmudic sage Rava is derived from a passage that permits a homeowner to kill an intruder in self-defense if the trespasser arrives in the night.

The Torah commands self-preservation, and Jews who stubbornly refuse to see it while preaching gun control, and claiming that Judaism’s prohibition on putting oneself in unnecessary danger proscribes gun ownership, are blinded by stupidity. How is sitting in one’s own home, celebrating the High Holy Days unnecessarily dangerous – even more so than owning a firearm for self defense?
Explanations?

Rabbi Dovid Bendory has several hypotheses why so many Jewish people refuse to take up arms in their own defense – even when anti-Semitic attacks are on the rise.

1. A desire for utopian moral purity
2. A disproportional incidence of hoplophobia
3. A quest for power through victimization of peers
4. A utopian delusion that if guns would just “go away,”
crime would end and the world would be a peaceful safe place
5. Self hatred and a wish to be helpless, acting out guilt-based
behavioral problems that develop in childhood
6. The Ostrich Syndrome
7. Garden-variety hypocrisy
8. Adulterated religion — Jews In Name Only (JINOs)
9. Feel-good sophistry
10. Abject fear that yields irrational behavior

Here's what happens when people rise to defend themselves.

The Morning Briefing: Bill de Blasio's New York Is Rapidly Becoming a Dangerous Hellhole

When New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio announced that he was running for president, virtually every Democrat I know in New York -- and I know a lot of them -- scoffed at the idea, noting that he can’t even run his own city.

His presidential nomination bid was short-lived, and now that he’s returned to his city to run it full time, things have gotten worse.

After the latest in an alarming number of attacks on Jews in New York City, de Blasio is playing catch-up and deploying extra police patrols.

Leftists are falling all over themselves to blame Trump and “Trump’s America” (code for “You Freakin’ Hicks) for the rise in violence from New York’s anti-Semites. The reality remains that it’s all happening in an exceedingly liberal city that is being run by a commie they elected to a second term.

This is all on you, New Yorkers.

De Blasio’s tenure has been a cesspool of discord all along. Early in his first term, he sold out his own police force by publicly telling a story about warning his mixed race son about the dangers of encounters he may have with law enforcement in the future.

Mayor Bill campaigned on ending stop-and-frisk policies that were effective in minimizing crime, but the anti-police social justice warriors had decided were unfair. They made Michael Bloomberg popular with law enforcement when he was the Republican, then Independent mayor of New York. Now that Bloomberg is a Democrat, he’s doing a walk of shame over them.

Murders overall are spiking under Mayor Stalin, and there is no reason to believe they won’t continue to do so.

I first got to experience Rudy Giuliani’s safer New York as a younger comic. The locals complained about what he’d done, but I rather enjoyed that it wasn’t the dangerous place I’d heard about growing up.

The way Mayor Bill is running things, the New York locals may soon be wishing for Rudy's second coming.

Don’t Mess With Texas

Democrats in Virginia are lying about their motives when they propose new gun control laws.  They know that these laws will not stop criminals from killing innocent people.  They want you disarmed so that they can control you without fearing that you'll fight back.
In recent months, there have been a number of anti-Semitic attacks, including attacks on synagogues. There have been a number of attacks on churches as well. Anti-gun pieties do nothing to protect innocent people when lunatics or ideologically-motivated murderers strike. Churches and synagogues, like many other public places, should be protected. Armed guards are great, but as Glenn Reynolds has said, in any mass shooting situation there is one group of people who are present, by definition–the victims. Only, if they are armed, they don’t have to be victims.

This is what the media thinks about you" You're delusional and believe in fairy tales."

The MSM  usually illustrate their viewpoint by quoting someone else so that they can assert that "I didn't say that."  So here's Chuck Todd on normal people.
"[W]hy do good people support Trump? It’s because people have been trained from childhood to believe in fairy tales. ... This set their minds up to accept things that make them feel good. ... The more fairy tales and lies he tells the better they feel. ... Show me a person who believes in Noah’s ark and I will show you a Trump voter."

Make no mistake, this is how the MSM talks about you when they're talking amongst themselves.

Democratic lawmakers insist Durham resign from Justice Department probe of Russian meddling in U.S. elections

I'd say this is obstruction of justice.

Trump a Human Shield

https://twitter.com/realDonaldTrump/status/1207508280207011841

It’s a message that resonates because it’s true, and true to the core of our current political culture.

Trump voters are berated and belittled with the same ferocity as directed at Trump himself. #TheResistance doesn’t distinguish between Trump and his voters.

Trump supporters aren’t going around harassing Democrats in restaurants and in their homes, aren’t attacking people who wear anti-Trump clothing, and aren’t trying to get Trump opponents fired. The hostility and hate is almost entirely in one direction, and people get that.

We celebrate the birth of the Savior

Luke 2 King James Version (KJV)

And it came to pass in those days, that there went out a decree from Caesar Augustus that all the world should be taxed.

2 (And this taxing was first made when Cyrenius was governor of Syria.)

3 And all went to be taxed, every one into his own city.

4 And Joseph also went up from Galilee, out of the city of Nazareth, into Judaea, unto the city of David, which is called Bethlehem; (because he was of the house and lineage of David:)

5 To be taxed with Mary his espoused wife, being great with child.

6 And so it was, that, while they were there, the days were accomplished that she should be delivered.

7 And she brought forth her firstborn son, and wrapped him in swaddling clothes, and laid him in a manger; because there was no room for them in the inn.

8 And there were in the same country shepherds abiding in the field, keeping watch over their flock by night.

9 And, lo, the angel of the Lord came upon them, and the glory of the Lord shone round about them: and they were sore afraid.

10 And the angel said unto them, Fear not: for, behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy, which shall be to all people.

11 For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Saviour, which is Christ the Lord.

12 And this shall be a sign unto you; Ye shall find the babe wrapped in swaddling clothes, lying in a manger.

13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying,

14 Glory to God in the highest, and on earth peace, good will toward men.

15 And it came to pass, as the angels were gone away from them into heaven, the shepherds said one to another, Let us now go even unto Bethlehem, and see this thing which is come to pass, which the Lord hath made known unto us.

16 And they came with haste, and found Mary, and Joseph, and the babe lying in a manger.

17 And when they had seen it, they made known abroad the saying which was told them concerning this child.

18 And all they that heard it wondered at those things which were told them by the shepherds.

19 But Mary kept all these things, and pondered them in her heart.

20 And the shepherds returned, glorifying and praising God for all the things that they had heard and seen, as it was told unto them.

The demand for white supremacists vastly exceeds the supply

John Hinderaker at Powerline:

The demand for white supremacists vastly exceeds the supply, which is why we see absurdities like the controversy over military academy students supposedly flashing “white power” signs at the Army-Navy football game. Now, apparently, the age-old “OK” sign means you are a white nationalist, notwithstanding that there are pictures of pretty much everyone in public life giving the sign, like Barack Obama, Nancy Pelosi, and nearly everyone else.

Or maybe it only means white supremacy if you give the OK sign upside down. Who decreed this? Who knows? Apparently some goofballs on an obscure site called 4chan invented the idea that the OK sign (or maybe the upside-down OK sign) stands for white supremacy, as a joke. Sort of like Putin’s putzing with the 2016 election, they succeeded beyond their wildest dreams. And for the same reason: As silly as their effort was, there was an enormous will to believe within the Democratic Party media.

Obviously, as noted above, the demand for white supremacists vastly exceeds the supply. It is vital to the Left’s narrative that white racism be alive and well–in fact, that it be an ever-increasing threat. But, obviously, it isn’t. If there were real evidence of a white supremacist movement (as opposed to one guy named Spencer who invariably is mentioned when the topic comes up), Democrats would cite that evidence.

But there isn’t any. I, personally, know hundreds, perhaps thousands, of people, but as far as I know I have never yet met a white supremacist. So the Democrats are reduced to whipping up enthusiasm among their voters, especially minority voters, with moronic attacks on Academy cadets and midshipmen and high school students. Are black and other minority Americans dumb enough to fall for this transparent ruse? I doubt it.

One thing we can say for sure: white supremacism has declined a long way from the days when it was the lifeblood of the Democratic Party, and Democrats expressed their racist views by hanging people. How much more peaceful it would have been if someone had taught the Democrats the “OK” sign!

The Democrats were the party of virulent racism since they lost the Civil War.  And let there be no misunderstanding, that includes Black Democrats, White Democrats, and Democrats of any other skin pigmentation, even of - like Ralph Northam (D - VA) - they had to use shoe polish.

For Whom the New Rules?

So egregious have been the ruling class’s attacks on Donald Trump, so shameless has been the sanctimony with which men such as William Webster have defended their biased governing rules, that the rest of us are well nigh compelled to give it a double dose of its own medicine.

Let's examine the 2020 Democratic field

Consider: To what extent do South Bend, Indiana Mayor Pete Buttigieg’s father’s extensive Communist contacts continue to influence his son? Mayor Pete grew up among ideas and persons hostile to America. These need to be identified, and questions need to be examined about whether and to what extent any continue to influence this presidential candidate.

Mayor Pete also has a history of illegal drug use. Who have his suppliers been? Tied to which cartels? What sort of leverage might they have on him? People need to be identified and examined under oath. Discrepancies in testimony need to be prosecuted. So do whatever crimes they may have committed. The anti-Trump investigations turned related persons’ “process crimes” into indictments of Trump. Democratic candidates should experience no less.

And then, of course, there's the Biden family corruption

On their face, the Biden family’s financial profiting from the several offices Joe Biden has held involves the violation of numerous ordinary laws. Detailing the manner and extent to which the family’s enrichment have paralleled its access to power seems to be part of federal law enforcement’s core duties.

We knew government was corrupt, we just didn't know it was evil. Now we do.

From the comments section of the WSJ column by Peggy Noonan.

Trump is looking better all the time. His policies are working. The economy, after years of Obama telling us poverty was "the new normal" and we'd better get used to it, is doing well.

Trump is supposedly greedy, yet he's done the job for several years now without pay. He's taken all manner of endless abuse and yet when he responds, he's excoriated for that.

We're told repeatedly there is no money for Social Security for people who have worked hard all their lives, yet there is apparently an endless font of goodies for illegal aliens.

We see politicians magically become millionaires and wonder how that is possible on their stated salaries.

They say they are for us, yet everything the do to us makes us poorer and enriches them.

We knew government was corrupt, we just didn't know it was evil. Now we do.

Trump has a servant's heart. He may not be highly polished, but I would rather have someone who makes my life better than pretty words and a bleak future.

This gets my up vote.

Woman Celebrated For Killing 3.5 Million People

From the Babylon Bee

U.S.—After her final day as president of abortion provider Planned Parenthood Monday, thousands of people took to social media to celebrate Cecile Richards and thank her for killing 3.5 million people during her tenure.
The nation offered kind remarks on Richards’ positive attitude, support for women’s rights, and ruthless genocidal efficiency.

It may be satire, but it happens to be the truth.

Mark Steyn: "The Non-War on Non-Terror"

It looks like that mosque at Ground Zero in New York is on again.

Is the Ground Zero Mosque back? According to Pamela Geller and Robert Spencer (who helped get it nixed almost a decade ago), a Muslim "cultural center" is once again in the works just a few feet from where their coreligionists killed 3,000 people and left a smoking crater. The principal evidence is a sentence at the end of a report on a neighboring property:
Construction has also yet to begin on 51 Park Place, which is slated to become a 71-foot-tall, 16,000-square-foot Islamic cultural center.
On the other hand, the developer - Sharif El-Gamal - is said to be debt-riddled, with $10 million in unpaid bills and crews no longer prepared to swallow the assurance that the check's in the mail.
If that's the only obstacle, then the mosque will be built, albeit after a cash injection from some obliging Saudi or Emirati. The mosque will rise because what started on September 12th 2001 as a politic euphemism - "the war on terror" - has become a form of self-castration: unless you're flying a plane into a skyscraper or riding your rental vehicle up onto the sidewalk, almost any other Islamic provocation is not only unobjectionable but has to be actively encouraged. That, after all, is how it went last time round. Recall that both the President of the United States and the Mayor of New York City were all in favor of the Ground Zero Mosque.

Because we now have Democrat members of Congress who basically agree with the people who made the crater in New York that their co-religionists want to convert to a Moslem shrine.

And so the Ground Zero Mosque goes quiet, but it never quite goes away. 9/11 was "the day that everything changed" mainly in the sense that the urge to self-prostrate became pathological: precisely because America was attacked in the name of Islamic supremacism, it is no longer acceptable to object to Islamic supremacism.

People Are Filtering Political Noise Out

It's a coping mechanism for normal people when the culture celebrates insanity.

You really don't have to pay attention to the crazy guy on the street corner screaming gibberish.

Averting your eyes and walking on is the sane response.

Conservatives are those with positions supported by the left ten years ago

Mark Steyn notes why "Conservatives" have been losing the culture wars, well, forever.

Indeed. In 2000, when the Vermont Supreme Court mandated same-sex "civil unions", American conservatives were outraged. By 2010, when the left had moved on to gay marriage, conservatives were supportive of civil unions but insisted marriage was an ancient institution between a man and a woman. Now, the left having won that one and moved on to transgenderism, conservatives profess to be a bit queasy about transitioning grade-schoolers.

So you can take it to the bank that by 2030 rock-ribbed Republicans will be on board with penises in the girls' changing rooms, but determined to hold the line against whatever the left's next cause du jour is: human cloning, the state appropriation of parenthood, voting rights for animals.

There really isn't much point to conservatism that's just leftism ten years late, is there? ... If you're considering on which side to bestow your tribal loyalty, the left is right quicker; the right is left behind - but only for a few years until they throw in the towel. If you're all headed to the same destination, why not ride first class ...? Justin Trudeau's vapid modishness was perfectly distilled by his campaign catchphrase of four years ago: "Because it's 2015." But that beats waiting till 2025 to say "Because it's 2015"....

It is surely telling that the only issues on which the right has made any progress at all in moving the ball in its direction - Brexit in the UK; illegal immigration and a belated honesty about the rise of China in the US - had to be injected into public discourse by two outsiders, Nigel Farage and Donald Trump. And indeed in the teeth of opposition by the establishment's catch-up conservatives.

Catch-up conservatism gives the game away: The right has lost the knack of persuasion, and increasingly doesn't even bother to try.

He's right, you know. Today's "conservatives" - the Never-Trump rump of Conservatism in particular, are busy defending gay marriage from the LGBTQ crazies. How supine do you have to be to defend yesterday's heresy from tomorrow's insanity?

The media injected venom into the American bloodstream. They must be made to pay.

The blatant lies told by the Obama spies and spooks in the FBI, CIA, NSA, and DOJ were broadcast and repeated .... and repeated .... and repeated by a national news media that hated Trump and hated the people who voted for him and were willing to do literally anything to overturn the 2016 election.

These criminals have torn the country apart; destroyed individuals and families and encouraged the evil, lying, plotters in the government as they saw how well their lies were working.

The media poisoners must be held accountable.  They can't be allowed to continue in their cushy, highly paid jobs.  Neither can they be allowed to simply fade away.  They must be made examples of for the evil they have done.  A wise judge once remarked that a man must be hung for killing his wife not because he may kill another wife - he may never marry again - but as an example to deter others from killing their wives.  So it must be with the media liars without whose sinister and baneful assistance this threat to the Republic would not have existed.

Perhaps these revelations will finally lead to a realization about how rogue, and dangerous, these police state agencies have become, and how urgently needed is serious reform. But if nothing else, it must serve as a tonic to the three years of unrelenting media propaganda that has deceived and misled millions of Americans into believing things that are simply untrue.

None of these journalists have acknowledged an iota of error in the wake of this report because they know that lying is not just permitted but encouraged as long as it pleases and vindicates the political beliefs of their audiences. Until that stops, credibility and faith in journalism will never be restored, and – despite how toxic it is to have a media that has no claim on credibility – that despised status will be fully deserved.

The Inspector General’s Report on 2016 FBI Spying Reveals a Scandal of Historic Magnitude: Not Only for the FBI but Also the U.S. Media

Just as was true when the Mueller investigation closed without a single American being charged with criminally conspiring with Russia over the 2016 election, Wednesday’s issuance of the long-waited report from the Department of Justice’s Inspector General reveals that years of major claims and narratives from the U.S. media were utter frauds.

Before evaluating the media component of this scandal, the FBI’s gross abuse of its power – its serial deceit – is so grave and manifest that it requires little effort to demonstrate it. In sum, the IG Report documents multiple instances in which the FBI – in order to convince a FISA court to allow it spy on former Trump campaign operative Carter Page during the 2016 election – manipulated documents, concealed crucial exonerating evidence, and touted what it knew were unreliable if not outright false claims.

If you don’t consider FBI lying, concealment of evidence, and manipulation of documents in order to spy on a U.S. citizen in the middle of a presidential campaign to be a major scandal, what is? But none of this is aberrational: the FBI still has its headquarters in a building named after J. Edgar Hoover – who constantly blackmailed elected officials with dossiers and tried to blackmail Martin Luther King into killing himself – because that’s what these security state agencies are. They are out-of-control, virtually unlimited police state factions that lie, abuse their spying and law enforcement powers, and subvert democracy and civic and political freedoms as a matter of course.

In this case, no rational person should allow standard partisan bickering to distort or hide this severe FBI corruption. The IG Report leaves no doubt about it. It’s brimming with proof of FBI subterfuge and deceit, all in service of persuading a FISA court of something that was not true: that U.S. citizen and former Trump campaign official Carter Page was an agent of the Russian government and therefore needed to have his communications surveilled.

SIC SEMPER TYRANNIS IS LITERALLY THE STATE MOTTO OF VIRGINIA

Via Glenn Reynolds.
“If you read between the lines of the adjutant general’s statement, it’s clear that McEachin’s comment is already causing a stir within the Guard itself. The men and women of the Virginia National Guard signed up to defend freedom, not establish a police state on American soil where soldiers search for scofflaws who refuse to register their rifles with the Virginia State Police.”

Like impeaching Trump,  I don't think that the Democrats thought this through.  They believed their press reports and that the editorial boards of the big state papers represented the people of Virginia. Surprise!!!!

Democratic Virginia Gov. Ralph Northam could call the National Guard to take your guns

Because that's how they roll.

Virginia Democrats threated to use National Guard to confiscate your guns

Democrat Congressman Donald McEachin’s comments about using the National Guard to enforce Governor Ralph Northam’s proposed gun control laws in Virginia has caused a storm of controversy in the state, to the point that the Adjutant General of the Virginia National Guard has issued a statement, after scores of phone calls and emails from concerned citizens and curious media figures.

Major General Timothy P. Williams didn't deny it or disavow it.

Given his dismal track record, it’s stunning that Christopher Steele has again surfaced, just before the U.K. election that will decide Brexit, to claim that Johnson is a Russian asset.

Readers will remember that Steele was hired by Fusion GPS, an opposition-research outfit hired by a law firm called Perkins Coie, to manufacture ties between Trump and Russia. Meanwhile, Perkins Coie was hired by, and working closely with, the Clinton campaign and other Clinton operatives.

Steele paid a British national with ties to Russia—Edward Baumgartner—to create a “dossier” tying Trump to Russia via wild and unsubstantiated claims, which Baumgartner created using unknown russRussian sources. Once the dossier was created, Steele and other Clinton operatives, including the infamous Sid Blumenthal, injected the allegations of the dossier into the Obama administration. This included getting the dossier circulated at high levels within the State Department, and within the Department of Justice and FBI.

Eventually, using the dossier, the FBI secretly spied on the Trump campaign. And the Clinton campaign tried to use the FBI’s investigation to smear Trump, which amounted to interference in the 2016 election by the Clinton campaign, using Russians to assist her efforts. Using Steele, the Clinton campaign planted media stories smearing Trump as a Russian agent, then responded to them as if they had appeared organically.

In the U.K., which has stricter libel laws than does America, Steele wouldn’t even back up his dossier in court. Instead, he emphasized that he never wrote it, which is of course true, because Baumgartner and unknown Russians wrote it.

Read the whole thing. The Russia, Russia, Russia hoax is not just an American, it's a worldwide Liberal conspiracy meme.

No One Actually Believes the Global Warming Hype

There may actually be some people who believe this shit. For example, the women-of-all-genders who publish the Virginian Pilot who will tell you - on a daily basis - that Norfolk will soon sink under the waves.

Liberals pay lip service to global warming dogma, but they apparently don’t believe it, as they continue to live large, emitting massive quantities of CO2. Al Gore is a classic example, but his hypocrisy is the rule, not the exception. Greta Thunberg is similar, burning up vast quantities of fossil fuels as she travels around the world (by yacht, while multiple handlers fly) preaching the global warming dogma.

Another data point similar to the Aramco IPO is the price of coastal properties. Liberals allege that sea level is rising alarmingly–it isn’t, in fact–and you likely have seen images of the Statue of Liberty half-way under water.

If people actually believed these claims, prices of coastal properties would be plummeting. But the opposite is happening. Buyers apparently have no fear that their coastal homes and businesses will soon be underwater, or that a decade or two from now global warming theory will have been confirmed so that they won’t be able to sell their properties. Thus, we saw Barack and Michelle Obama pay $15 million for an estate on Martha’s Vineyard, just feet above sea level. Do as I say, not as I do.

But people who have money and buy houses try to get as close to the shore as possible. They pay top dollar for a water view even if it means the next hurricane flattens their home. Even in the middle of Norfolk, the highest prices are paid for homes just a few feet above the water at high tide.

Steele Dossier Peddled Insane Conspiracy Theory That American Jews Were Secret Russian Spies

On page five in the third paragraph of the dossier, former British spy Christopher Steele wrote that agents of the FSB, the Russian Federal Security Service, were approaching Russian-Jewish-Americans who worked in the IT industry to conduct covert operations.

It's hard not to feel sorry for the chumps who believed this.

Snopes Demands White House Explain Trump's Retweet of Babylon Bee Mocking Dems

If you ever thought the morons at Snopes were nothing but Left wing hacks, this leaves no doubt.

Sen. Hawley Drops a Bomb on Horowitz: 'The Collusion Here Was Between the DNC and the FBI'

“The DNC pays for the Steele dossier, solicits the Steele dossier, and then gets the Federal Bureau of Investigation to go get FISA warrants, surveil an American citizen, and surveil a presidential campaign all on the basis of this manufactured garbage that they paid for. I mean that’s extraordinary," he complained. "That has got to be a first time in history. In fact, let me just ask you, Mr. Horowitz, are you aware ever of another presidential campaign being targeted by the FBI like the Trump campaign was?”
...
"To me, this is the untold story of the 2016 campaign," continued Hawley. "I don't know who at the DNC hatched this, but I suppose they ought to take a victory lap, but certainly they should be remembered for it; to get the FBI to pursue surveillance of a rival presidential campaign and then into the newly elected president's term I think is just extraordinary."

Hawley then grilled Horowitz about why the criminals at the FBI involved in this are still employed. No one knows. Hawley closed with this bombshell: "I think the collusion here was between the DNC and the FBI."

Let's not forget the role of the MSM in spreading the lies and breaking the country in two.

Democrats Embrace 'Principled' Totalitarianism

Here’s the likely whistleblower — and the questions he should answer

Politico’s Jack Shafer has eloquently argued that the press should name the whistleblower. It is not against the law – whistleblower protections are to prevent retaliation in the workplace and apply to his superiors, not the media. Yet while the press eagerly tried to out Deep Throat or the anonymous author of “A Warning,” they suddenly lack curiosity.

They’ve also been hypocritical. In September, The Times reported the whistleblower was a male CIA officer who worked at the White House and was now back at the CIA. Why? Executive Editor Dean Baquet said, “we wanted to provide information to readers that allows them to make their own judgments about whether or not he is credible.” The cynic might say they were trying to argue that the whistleblower was credible.

But if that’s the argument, and if Ciaramella is the whistleblower, isn’t it also relevant that he, according to Sperry, previously worked with CIA Director John Brennan, a fierce critic of Trump, and Vice President Joe Biden, Trump’s political opponent and the crux of the impeachment inquiry? That he’s a registered Democrat and that he was – again, according to Sperry – accused of leaking negative information about the Trump Administration and that’s why he was transferred back to Langley?

What, if anything, did he leak? Did he work with Biden on Ukraine, apparently Ciaramella’s area of expertise? Did he know about Burisma and Hunter Biden? Who told him about the call, and why did that person not complain instead of him? How did Schiff’s staff help him tailor the complaint?

This is only the fourth time in our history that a president has faced impeachment. Shouldn’t we know the answers to these questions now, and not in two, three years when the inevitable official reports and tell-all books come out? Why must we wait for the truth?

Career Officials Thwart Aid to Christian, Yazidi Genocide Victims

This is a scandal.  the anti-Christian bias of the Deep State is palpable.  They would like nothing better than to see Christianity wiped off the map in the part of the world where it began.

Law school student interrogated by FBI, expelled over ‘It’s Okay to be White’ flyers

I blame the New York Times and its racist cheerleading.

Lesson: do not hire a lawyer who graduated from Oklahoma City University of Law

Of course the FBI spied on the Trump campaign

The way in which the enemies of Trump are torturing the language to deny their crimes is breathtaking.   And let there be no mistake, these are crimes by the Obama administration, not just the FBI.  The rot starts at the head but few people have the courage to tell the truth about Obama himself.
The great debate about whether the FBI spied on the Trump campaign continues. The question is why there is still any argument. The newly-released report from Justice Department inspector general Michael Horowitz shows that by any definition the FBI did indeed spy.

The proof is in the details of the report. In addition to the much-discussed wiretap of Trump campaign foreign policy adviser Carter Page, Horowitz discussed the bureau's use of what is called a CHS -- a confidential human source, or, in more common terms, an informant, and a UCE -- an undercover employee, or a secret agent, to gather information from at least three targets in the Trump campaign. One was Page, another was George Papadopoulos, also a member of the advisory team, and the third was an unnamed "high-level Trump campaign official who was not a subject of the Crossfire Hurricane investigation."

Horowitz described "multiple CHS operations undertaken by the Crossfire Hurricane team." There were "numerous CHS interactions with Page and Papadopoulos." There was the CHS contact with the high-level campaign official. And then there were "additional CHSs" who attempted to contact Papadopoulos but did not succeed.

All the meetings and conversations were secretly recorded by the FBI. Some were also monitored live, as they happened, by agents and supervisors. The Horowitz report quoted liberally from transcripts of the recordings.

The Trump campaign was "clearly spied upon," attorney general Bill Barr said in an interview with NBC Tuesday. "I mean, that's what electronic surveillance is. I think wiring people up to go in and talk to people and make recordings of their conversations is spying."

PREVENTING CHARITIES FROM DOING THEIR JOBS

The Salvation Army is the latest target by the Left.

The headline should read: "CBS News Lies Again"

The Media Again Buries the Truth About the SPLC

Using the SPLC as a source should make you a laughing stock. Normal people understand.

“Today’s Southern Poverty Law Center is aggressively anti-Christian and morally bankrupt – both inside and out. The SPLC has been imploding from within, with its own former employees saying the group is racist, bigoted, and rife with sexual misconduct and discrimination. The problems have become so significant that employees are currently seeking to unionize. Earlier this year, SPLC’s founder was fired, and its president and top lawyer resigned, but there is little sign that the group is moving beyond its reputation as a ‘ highly profitable scam.’

IG Report Reveals James Comey Lied To Fox News Anchor Bret Baier About Steele Dossier

In April 2018, former FBI Director James Comey appeared on Fox News with Bret Baier. Looking back at this clip after the release of the Inspector General’s FISA report, it is evident Comey lied to Baier about knowing Christopher Steele’s dossier was funding by the Democratic National Convention and the Hillary Clinton campaign.

During the interview, Baier pressed Comey about his knowledge on the Steele dossier. Comey claimed he did not know for a fact that the Steele dossier was funded by the DNC or the Clinton campaign.

“When did you learn that the DNC and Hillary Clinton campaign had funded Christopher Steele’s work?” Baier asked.

“Yes, I still don’t know that for a fact,” Comey said.

“What do you mean?” Baier asked.

“I’ve only seen it in the media. I never knew exactly which Democrats has funded — I knew it was funded first by Republicans,” Comey responded.

“That’s not true that the dossier that Christopher Steele worked on was funded by Republicans,” Baier said.

The IG report shows that Comey was indeed informed of the funding of the dossier. According to the report, on October 12, 2016, then National Security Division (NSD) Assistant Attorney General Stuart Evans raised concerns to both Comey and Andrew McCabe about the DNC and Clinton campaign funding the Steele dossier.

Comey is as corrupt as it is possible for a person to be.

A Cornered Rat Reponds

Last week, the airwaves were full of media praise for Nancy Pelosi to cover for a meltdown seemly aimed at reporter James Rosen but I feel was much more a vent toward a plan going very badly. The media certainly came with both barrels. Chris Mathews and selected Hardball panelists agreed that it may well have been her “finest hour.” That tower of truth Lawrence O’Donnell celebrated her “crushing” of Rosen. Andrea Mitchell attested to Pelosi’s “deep faith” and her sincerity in citing her status as a properly raised Catholic. And the ever-so conservative of convenience David Brooks, no doubt more impressed by the crisp crease of her pantsuit than her substance, called it a “beautiful moment.”

When I bothered to watch the clip of the press conference (actually just a tight, measured statement to the reporters) and her turning on Rosen as she was leaving, my first impression was of a cornered rat striking out and releasing the frustration with its predicament. It might have been quite a bit of her own doing, but Pelosi has been cornered into calling for the bills of impeachment after losing all of the battles needed to make the measure favor her party and her ends.

A person who knows they have control of the situation does not meltdown like that. In her case, I believe she was on-board for an impeachment from the beginning ...

The heavy-handed committee meetings with such apparent lack of fairness (not mention evidence of any real kind) have been an across-the-board bust. The more they do, the easier it is to see they have no real case except a distaste for the president and anyone who voted for him. The parade of “witnesses” has been little more than a collection of career swamp dwellers unhappy with the rejection of their great policy insight who had no first-hand knowledge of anything and a selected set of snarky left-wing academics – all of whom appeared to talk down to everyone else without a D in front of their name or not holding a media card. One of the self-important, bow-tied professors even began by instructing us on his “conclusions” before even addressing any points of law and constitutionality.
...

But even that poling which is allowed to reach the public eye shows the president gaining ground, not just across-the-board but in so-called battleground states and districts. And the crowning touch was data which suggested his approval among minorities was well over 30 percent. That is indeed a panic signal for the party of dependency.

For several reasons, in that flash of time when Madame Speaker wheeled on Rosen, I didn’t see a devout Catholic defending her love for all mankind (except, of course, for those in their first, second, or third trimester – or maybe a few minutes past), I saw a scheming rat cornered and angered she couldn’t find the next turn in the maze.

Google Maps Developers Apologize For Bug That Instructs Conservatives To Drive Off Cliff

Babylon Bee, your new authoritative news source.

MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA—A glitch in Google Maps' navigation feature has been instructing thousands of conservative users to drive off a cliff and die, sources confirmed Wednesday.

Google apologized for the inconvenience and says it is looking into the "innocent error."

"For unknown reasons, our Maps app is telling conservative users to drive off the nearest cliff," said a Google rep. "It's really strange. We've not seen anything like this before."

According to Google, the tech company gathers information on everyone who uses their apps. It builds a profile and labels you based on your religion, preferences, entertainment choices, location, race, gender, and political persuasion. Then, if you're a conservative, the Google Maps app will tell you to find a precipice or sheer rock face nearby and just barrel right off it.

At publishing time, Maps programmers had discovered a similar bug that instructed liberal users to ram into the nearest conservative driver's vehicle and run them off the road.

This is reason number 999,999 why John McCain lost

On Thursday’s broadcast of MSNBC’s Deadline, Steve Schmidt, John McCain’s 2008 presidential campaign manager, said House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-CA) was “literally the only serious national leader the country has.”

Keep this slimeball in mind when you get a request for support by the losers in the Republican Party.

Trump’s Approval Jumps to 52% Same Day Pelosi Announces Impeachment Will Proceed

On Thursday – the same day House Speaker Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) announced Democrats will proceed with articles of impeachment against President Donald Trump – the president’s approval jumped to 52%, its highest level in more than two months.

The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Thursday shows that 52% of likely U.S. voters approve of President Trump’s job performance, while 47% disapprove. This represents a three percentage point improvement from the previous day, when 49% approved and 50% disapproved.

At 52%, Trump’s approval is the highest daily number since September 24th of this year (53% approved, 45% disapproved).

Thursday’s 52% approval was driven by men voicing strong approval of Trump (59%-40%). More women disapproved (53%) of the president than approved (46%).

Only 31% of black likely voters voiced approval of Trump on Thursday, as 67% disapproved. But, 61% of all other minority voters approved of Trump, while only 38% disapproved. Trump’s approval was also net positive among white voters (53%-46%).

‘The Interagency’ Isn’t Supposed to Rule

The impeachment hearings will have served a useful purpose if all they do is demonstrate that a cabal of unelected officials are fashioning profound aspects of U.S. foreign policy on their own motion. No statutes anticipate that the president or Congress will delegate such authority to a secret working group formed largely at the initiation of entrepreneurial bureaucrats, notwithstanding that they may be area experts, experienced in diplomatic and military affairs, and motivated by what they see as the best interests of the country.

The Democrats’ Massive Impeachment Fail

Kurt Schlichter

Well, the gibbering, babbling left wanted an impeachment, and now they’re getting it good and hard. To the surprise of no one who isn’t a blue city pol, a media hack, or an insufferable Fredocon sissy, the American people are not particularly impressed by the genius idea of replacing our president a year before an election because he allegedly expressed curiosity about why the coke-sniffing, stripper-impregnating, dead brother’s wife-trifling, Navy-rejected loser son of Vice President Gropey O’Definitelynotsenile scored a $50K+ a month gig on a Ukrainian gas board. And it’s just dawning on some of them they maybe this impeachment brainstorm was not the bestest idea there ever was.

They think the optics of the Schiff hearings were great. They weren’t great. Yeah, let’s get a bunch of Deep State suits to come in and explain how the guy we elected to shake up the foreign policy elite’s decades of utter failure is bad because he is shaking up the foreign policy elite’s decades of utter failure. And then you have That’sLieutenant Colonel Bratwurst – if you’ve been in uniform, you know there’s one of those guys in every unit, and the wise commander has him off inventorying combat boots at the CIF, where he can’t provoke the troops to hang him by his skivvies from the flag pole out in front of Division HQ. You look at this parade of smug, over-credentialed bureaucrats with delusions of competence and a track record of screw-ups and, to cite the popular meme, you realize that Trump was elected to fire people like them.

Ukraine President Zelensky Says (Again) There Was No Quid Pro Quo

Who are you gonna believe, the guy on the other end of the call or the Slimeball Media and the corrupt Democrats?

Once again, Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has denied again that President Trump withheld military aid in order to pressure him to investigate the Bidens or Ukrainian election interference.

Andrew Cuomo helps Russia, Saudi Arabia, and Iran, at the expense of working-class Americans

... for the first time in 70 years, the United States in September had been a net oil exporter for an entire month. This was a signal achievement, almost entirely attributable to hydraulic fracturing (“fracking”) — and a will in Washington to break US dependence on foreign energy.

The war is far from won, but for now, America has degraded the ability of a few Iranian gunboats’ to body-slam the US economy by throttling off the Strait of Hormuz.

But no thanks to Cuomo. Or, more precisely, no thanks to those members of the Democratic Party so dedicated to green extremism that they effectively are sailing with the gunboats — consequences be damned.

In this respect, Cuomo is a type. He almost single-handedly forced the approaching shutdown of the Indian Point nuclear plant — it produces 35 percent on New York’s electricity — with no clear plan for replacing its power.

And his theatrical opposition both to fracking and the transmission of natural gas across the state holds him in high esteem with greens, but has had substantial and growing negative effects on New York, especially upstate.

The governor engineered an outright ban on fracking — the technology responsible for a 55 percent increase in hydrocarbon extraction in America over the past decade, with no significant ill effects.

In so doing, Cuomo cut the natural-gas-rich Southern Tier out of the relative prosperity currently enjoyed by nearby fracking states like Pennsylvania and Ohio.

Press Oracles Hope to Resurrect the Cronkite Age, When They Controlled the News

 Richard Fernandez (wretchard)
From this perspective, McCarthy's Ball of Collusion can also serve as the story of an attempt to restore the oracular nature of journalistic information to a level comparable to the Cronkite era. By creating a story dependent on leaked intelligence reports, hearings inside secure rooms, or sealed documents, the press appeared to have found a formula that could once again let them say "and that's the way it was." They would once again have an information monopoly and the world would revert back from the information firehose to the proper classified straw. And their inside knowledge, which they were confident would be borne out by the Mueller report, would show that Russia conspired with Trump to defeat Hillary Clinton.

The Left Hates The Salvation Army. That's All You Need to Know About the Left

Dennis Prager

One of the great puzzles in contemporary American life is whether there is anything the left could do to make Americans understand how destructive it is. If suppressing free speech at colleges and on the internet, fomenting interracial anger, supporting those who wish to annihilate Israel, allowing (and even encouraging) teenage girls to have their healthy breasts surgically removed if they think they are a boy and trying to crush The Salvation Army don't do it, probably nothing will.

Rattling the Cage Doors

By Sarah Hoyt.
Totalitarian regimes create people who find a way to get around them....

IMHO part of the reason for the increasingly paranoid behavior of the left is that they know there is communication going on but they don’t understand it/know what we’re saying. ...

Look, yeah, the first amendment still protects our speech. And yes, I know the first amendment only protects our speech from the government. But in the year of our Lord 2019 we also know for sure that if you say the wrong thing you could find yourself fired, your reputation destroyed, your family threatened, your career a thing of the past. ...

Now, of course we know we’re not alone. We also know the limits to our speech. And we’re of course told things like “free speech doesn’t cover hate speech” which is what is technically known as bullshit, since no one ever needed a right to free speech to say that butterflies are pretty and ice cream tastes delicious. Or for that matter to echo the things the controllers of media and social media want you to say.

And of course, the left, knowing the game is up and we can see them, has dropped all the masks and has gone to naked aggression and force. Daft and naked aggression and force. I guess all out of touch would be elites, in their terminal state seem to get a little … odd....

There is an anger in the land I don’t think you’re even vaguely aware of. I’m not — not even close — the most hot tempered on our side. And I was a very reluctant Trump voter. But watching your sham- wow-impeachment (It’s Russia, it’s Ukraine, it’s taxes, it’s mean tweets against the squad, it’s the fact that orange man bad), your attempt to reverse elections you don’t like, and silence people who don’t agree with you, has me spitting mad, furious, not even sure what to do with all this anger. And I’m not alone. You have no idea of the anger stalking this land. (And if you say “you sound angry” guess what “Damn skippy. You have no idea how angry.” The only ones not angry aren’t paying attention.)

You really don't want to get normal people really angry.

Mark Steyn: "Unlearning Together"

No satirist can compete with reality ...  about the killer and his victim on London Bridge.

Jack Merritt was a 25-year-old Cambridge criminology graduate and an administrator of the "Learning Together" programme. He had written the dissertation for his Doctorate of Philosophy on the "over-representation" in the British prison system of young ethnic-minority males, such as Usman Khan. He had apparently donated to a charity fun run by two Cambridge professors that raised money to buy a laptop for Usman Khan.

Usman Khan used that laptop to explore his continuing-education interest in global jihad, and then he asked permission to go to Fishmongers' Hall in London to attend the "Learning Together" anniversary event.

Jack Merritt saw Usman Khan as his friend, proof of the validity of his thesis, a testament to the success of the programme. Usman Khan saw Jack Merritt as the other, the infidel. So he killed him.

And, Jack's father is upset, not with the man who killed his son, but with the people who criticized the man who killed his son.

If anything can be said for certain about Jack Merritt's short life, it's that in the end he wasn't terribly good at recognizing who the real "haters" are. Nor is his father, who seems to think they're Nigel and Boris, Tories, "Islamophobes". So who actually is the hater here? If you happen to think that bollards and de-radicalization programmes are insufficient to the situation, Dave Merritt will label your difference of opinion as "an agenda of hate". Which is one reason why the bollardization of everything is all we get.

The determination to denounce everything other than diversity blather as an "agenda of hate" is a big part of why we're where we are today.
In a way, Jack Merritt is a victim of his father.
Usman Khan was an ill-educated fanatic, but, up against all the sophisticated stupidity of the elites, he figured that out at least.

Former Haitian Senate President Calls Clintons 'Common Thieves Who Should Be in Jail'

An eyewitness to the Clinton Foundation's corrupt dealings in Haiti says virtually nothing has been done to help the victims of the 2010 earthquake in Haiti that claimed an estimated 200,000 lives, and that the Clintons are nothing but common thieves who should be in jail.

Sandy Rios of American Family Radio interviewed former Haitian Senate President Bernard Sansaricq on Thursday, and the enraged Haitian had nothing good to say about the Clintons. He angrily claimed that they brought their "pay to play" politics to Haiti at the expense of the Haitian people.

Sansaricq said that the Clinton Foundation received 14.3 billion dollars in donation money to help with the relief effort. President Obama and UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon put the Clinton Foundation in charge of the reconstruction, but Haiti has seen no help. The money all went to friends of Bill Clinton.

It is now known, thanks to WikiLeaks, that the State Department colluded with the Clinton Foundation to make sure that those multi-million dollar contracts would literally go to "friends of Bill."

The genius of the Clinton Crime family was to make bribery a tax-deductible expense.

Sarah Hoyt: "The Best People"

The right, in the US, largely doesn’t believe in “Smart People.” We know they exist. We just repose no trust in them. The fact that the media has for decades been depicting as “Smart” people whose conclusions and ideas we were forced (from some life event usually) after examination to consider simplistic and borderline inane, doesn’t help us believe in “smart people.”

So in the end we’re stuck screaming across the divide “We would love perfect and free health care; yes, we think some people would greatly benefit from not having to worry about the daily bread, so they could create great things; yes, we’re all for improving the lot of the homeless and the addicted; yep, sure, some people are rolling in undeserved and misappropriated wealth.

It’s just that we think when we let anyone, smart or dumb try to fix that stuff, what we get is systems where bureaucrats prevent parents from saving their child’s life; universal income that disincentivizes 90% of recipients from trying to work and reduces them to the level of pets or prisoners of their vices; turns major cities into open sewers that are not safe to walk in, lest you be attacked by a feral human; strips all incentive from the hardest working, most productive people in a society and leaves everyone in equal poverty.”

Justice Clarence Thomas: ‘Forget the Bigot in the Pick-up Truck, Biggest Impediment to his Career was Modern-Day Liberals’

It's dawning on more and more Black people that the Left are the ones holding them down.
“I felt as though in my life I had been looking at the wrong people as the people who would be problematic toward me. We were told that, ‘Oh, it’s gonna be the bigot in the pickup truck; it’s gonna be the Klansmen; it’s gonna be the rural sheriff… But it turned out that through all of that, ultimately the biggest impediment was the modern day liberal. They were the ones who would discount all those things because they have one issue or because they have the power to caricature you.”

The Brennan Dossier: All About a Prime Mover of Russiagate

Keep in mind that Brennan voted Communist before heading the CIA.
The Trump-Russia collusion theory was not propagated by a few rogue figures. Key Obama administration and intelligence officials laundered it through national security reporters who gave their explosive claims anonymous cover. Nevertheless, Brennan stands apart for the outsized role he played in generating and spreading the false narrative.

Strzok-Page Texts Were Not Unearthed by Sharp FBI Investigative Work – Strzok’s Angry and Scorned Wife Turned Him In After Finding Texts on His Phone!

We were told that the texts were uncovered by the diligent work of Michael E. Horowitz, the Inspector General. Now it turns out that it was the wife who turned Strzok in.  The IG had nothing to do with it.

Get ready for the IG report to be a nothingburger that protects the leading lights of the corrupt FBI.

The Justice Department watchdog’s past high-profile probes of FBI cases involving Hillary Clinton, James Comey, and others show a pattern of kid-glove treatment and pulling punches for some powerful people, Paul Sperry reports for RealClearInvestigations.

That suggests Inspector General Michael Horowitz’s soon-to-be-released report on FBI surveillance abuses could disappoint those hoping for a thorough, tough and fair check on government wrongdoing from a man routinely portrayed within the Washington Beltway as a “straight shooter.”

Based on previous reports by Horowitz, I expect that he will be focused on protecting the institutions he's assigned to investigate.

Trump Under Fire for Using Male Pronouns to Describe Conan the Hero Dog

The press is cis-gendered bigots.
There are, of course, a large number of tweets mocking Trump for getting Conan's gender wrong. They never asked whether Conan identifies as a male and simply hasn't started to transition yet. Shame on them for assuming gender!

Press Narrowly Escapes White House Lawn After Trump Releases The Hounds

One CNN reporter almost made it, climbing the fence, when one of the dogs got his shoe. Just as all hope was lost for the oppressed CNN journalist, Trump, being merciful, called off the attack, whistling for the hounds to return. "We'll get you one, day, reporters -- you'll see. You'll all see!" he cackled, rubbing his hands together.

Steve Hayes - Insane Never Trumper

Today on the Brian Kilmeade show Steve Hayes came out for Trump’s impeachment. He actually defended the only indisputable quid pro quo in the entire Ukraine fiasco. Claiming that Joe Biden only demanded the immediate removal of the Ukrainian prosecutor who was investigating Burisma because the prosecutor was corrupt.

Hayes is stupid enough to imagine that Joe Biden wanted the old, “corrupt” prosecutor to go so that a new “clean” prosecutor would do a better job of investigating corruption at Burisma – and determine why Hunter Biden was being paid over $80,000 per month for a no-show job knowing nothing about gas, Ukraine, or even speaking the language.  He wants us to know that Joe Biden was anxious to have his son's business dealings exposed.

That’s right, according to Steve Hayes, it was Joe Biden’s desire to have his son’s corrupt employer investigated. To do so he threatened to withhold a billion dollars in aid unless the Ukrainians got a better prosecutor, the better to go after his corrupt son. Yes, it makes perfect sense: Joe Biden wanted a new, incorruptible prosecutor investigating Burisma so that the bribery of the Biden family can be exposed.

This makes you realize that either Steve Hayes has always been nuts, or that Donald Trump has driven him insane. And to think that at one time Hayes was considered a credible commentator on the Right.

And that's why the Right, with spokesmen like Steve Hayes, was always losing.

Trump Backers Aren't a Cult…But We Are the Outsiders

The message here is clear on two fronts. First, in this present media landscape, a cult could roughly be defined as groupings of people despicable enough to hold views contrary to those of New York newsrooms and Ivy League faculty lounges. The second message also seems self-evident. Rather than debate policy, disparagement becomes the default narrative of the president’s detractors. This new “cult” criticism seems to flow directly from the inability, so far, of the Democrats to damage the president in the impeachment imbroglio.

The smear machine at work. Never forget that they hate you.

The New York Times Lies Yesterday, Today and Tomorrow

The New York Times helped Stalin hide the Ukrainian famine he created. Their “reporter”, Walter Durante, did so in an interesting way. What he did was to deny the mass deaths from famine by writing that while there was some hunger and some mismanagement, there were no mass deaths from starvation. Instead, he wrote, “there is no actual starvation or death from starvation, but there is widespread mortality from diseases due to malnutrition.” The dead, you see, died from the sniffles, not from hunger.

The technique is interesting and evergreen: don’t deny the fact that there is a problem, but minimize it and blame it on other factors. And, in Durante’s case – as well as his reincarnation ion the current crop of liars at the New York Times – vilify the brave people that try to tell the truth.

This is how the Times tries to twist the leaks coming out of the Inspector General’s report on the Obama Administration’s illegal spying on the Trump campaign. The modern-day Walter Durnates want you to believe that the top leaders of Team Obama were only doing their jobs. Any “errors” were made by obscure underlings who no one has ever heard of.

How the New York Times Helped Stalin Hide Ukraine’s Famine From The World.

In the years 1932 and 1933, a catastrophic famine swept across the Soviet Union. It began in the chaos of collectivization, when millions of peasants were forced off their land and made to join state farms. It was then exacerbated, in the autumn of 1932, when the Soviet Politburo, the elite leadership of the Soviet Communist Party, took a series of decisions that deepened the famine in the Ukrainian countryside. Despite the shortages, the state demanded not just grain, but all available food. At the height of the crisis, organized teams of policemen and local Party activists, motivated by hunger, fear, and a decade of hateful propaganda, entered peasant households and took everything edible: potatoes, beets, squash, beans, peas, and farm animals. At the same time, a cordon was drawn around the Ukrainian republic to prevent escape. The result was a catastrophe: At least 5 million people perished of hunger all across the Soviet Union. Among them were nearly 4 million Ukrainians who died not because of neglect or crop failure, but because they had been deliberately deprived of food.
Neither the Ukrainian famine nor the broader Soviet famine were ever officially recognized by the USSR. Inside the country the famine was never mentioned. All discussion was actively repressed; statistics were altered to hide it. The terror was so overwhelming that the silence was complete. Outside the country, however, the cover-up required different, subtler tactics. These are beautifully illustrated by the parallel stories of Walter Duranty and Gareth Jones.

In the 1930s, all of the members of the Moscow press corps led a precarious existence. At the time, they needed the state’s permission to live in the USSR, and even to work. Without a signature and the official stamp of the press department, the central telegraph office would not send their dispatches abroad. To win that permission, journalists regularly bargained with foreign ministry censors over which words they could use, and they kept on good terms with Konstantin Umansky, the Soviet official responsible for the foreign press corps. William Henry Chamberlin, then the Moscow correspondent for the Christian Science Monitor, wrote that the foreign reporter “works under a Sword of Damocles—the threat of expulsion from the country or of the refusal of permission to re-enter it, which of course amounts to the same thing.”
Extra rewards were available to those, like Walter Duranty, who played the game particularly well. Duranty was The New York Times correspondent in Moscow from 1922 until 1936, a role that, for a time, made him relatively rich and famous. British by birth, Duranty had no ties to the ideological left, adopting rather the position of a hard-headed and skeptical “realist,” trying to listen to both sides of the story. “It may be objected that the vivisection of living animals is a sad and dreadful thing, and it is true that the lot of kulaks and others who have opposed the Soviet experiment is not a happy one,” he wrote in 1935—the kulaks being the so-called wealthy peasants whom Stalin accused of causing the famine. But “in both cases, the suffering inflicted is done with a noble purpose.”
This position made Duranty enormously useful to the regime, which went out of its way to ensure that Duranty lived well in Moscow. He had a large flat, kept a car and a mistress, had the best access of any correspondent, and twice received coveted interviews with Stalin. But the attention he won from his reporting back in the U.S. seems to have been his primary motivation. His missives from Moscow made him one of the most influential journalists of his time. In 1932, his series of articles on the successes of collectivization and the Five Year Plan won him the Pulitzer Prize. Soon afterward, Franklin Roosevelt, then the governor of New York, invited Duranty to the governor’s mansion in Albany, where the Democratic presidential candidate peppered him with queries. “I asked all the questions this time. It was fascinating,” Roosevelt told another reporter.

'Coup' Concerns Suddenly Don't Seem So Far-fetched

Victor Davis Hansen
For most of the last three years, Donald Trump's critics have scoffed at supposed "conspiracy theories" that claimed a "deep state" of bureaucrats were aborting the Trump presidency. We have been told the word "coup" is hyperbole that reveals the paranoid minds of Trump supporters.

Trump's critics have also radically changed their spin on "coups." To them, "coup" is no longer a dirty word trafficked in by right-wing conspiracists. Instead, it has been normalized as a possibly legitimate means of aborting the Trump presidency.

Mark Zaid, the attorney representing the Ukraine whistleblower, boasted in two recently discovered tweets of ongoing efforts to stage a coup to remove Trump.

"#coup has started. First of many steps. #rebellion. #impeachment will follow," Zaid tweeted in January 2017. Later the same month, he tweeted: "#coup has started. As one falls, two more will take their place."

Retired Admiral William H. McRaven recently wrote an op-ed for The New York Times all but calling for Trump's ouster -- "the sooner the better."

No sooner had Trump been elected than Rosa Brooks, a former Defense Department official during the Obama administration, wrote an essay for Foreign Policy magazine discussing theoretical ways to remove Trump before the 2020 election, among them a scenario involving a military coup.

In September 2018, The New York Times published an op-ed from an anonymous White House official who boasted of supposedly widescale efforts inside the Trump administration to nullify its operations and subvert presidential directives.

Such efforts to oppose Trump are often self-described as "The Resistance," a reference to the underground French fighters resisting the Nazis in World War II.

Trump's opponents often have praised the deep state precisely because unelected career officials are seen as the most effective way to sabotage and stymie his agenda.

A "coup" is no longer proof of right-wing paranoia, but increasingly a part of the general progressive discourse of resistance to Trump.

Read the whole thing.

Amb. Sondland Admits He Has No Evidence Trump Tied Ukraine Military Aid to Investigations Other Than His 'Own Presumption'

Democrats were working on another nothingburger Wednesday with Ambassador Gordon Sondland's testimony. Not only did Sondland admit again that the only direct evidence he has on Trump is Trump's own statement saying he wanted nothing from Ukraine — "no quid pro quo" — but he also had to admit he has zero evidence Trump even tried to connect the military aid to the investigations of 2016 election interference and Burisma.

This exchange between Ohio Rep. Mike Turner and Sondland just destroyed the Democrats' case.

Theodore Dalrymple on the Real Goal of Political Correctness

“In my study of communist societies, I came to the conclusion that the purpose of communist propaganda was not to persuade or convince, not to inform, but to humiliate; and therefore, the less it corresponded to reality the better. When people are forced to remain silent when they are being told the most obvious lies, or even worse when they are forced to repeat the lies themselves, they lose once and for all their sense of probity. To assent to obvious lies is…in some small way to become evil oneself. One’s standing to resist anything is thus eroded, and even destroyed. A society of emasculated liars is easy to control. I think if you examine political correctness, it has the same effect and is intended to.

The Looming ‘1984’ Election

Victor Davis Hanson
Like it or not, 2020 is going to be a plebiscite on an American version of Orwell’s Nineteen-Eighty-Four.
We are also well beyond even the stark choices of 1972 and 1984 that remained within the parameters of the two parties. In contrast, the Democratic Party as we have known it, is extinct for now. It has been replaced since 2016 by a radical progressive revolutionary movement that serves as a touchstone for a variety of auxiliary extremist causes, agendas, and cliques—almost all of them radically leftwing and nihilistic, and largely without majority popular support.

When Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-N.Y.) and a number of Democratic presidential candidates sympathize with the New York subway jumpers who openly threaten the police, then what or who exactly is the alternative to such chaos?

When the media proves 90 percent partisan according to its own liberal watchdog institutions, or reports things as true that cannot be true but “should” be true, what are the forces behind that?

If a late-term abortion results in a live baby exiting the birth canal only to be liquidated, who exactly would say that is amoral?

If the leading Democratic presidential candidates openly embrace the Green New Deal, reparations, abolishing the Electoral College, welfare for illegal aliens, open borders, amnesties, wealth taxes, a 70-90 percent income tax code, Medicare for all, and legal infanticide—what is the alternative vision and who stands between all that and a targeted traditional America?

When the violence of Antifa is quietly—or sometimes loudly—condoned, who are those who empower it and excuse it?
Who exactly wishes to pack the court, to repeal the Electoral College, to nix the difference between residency and citizenship, to promote identity-politics tribalism over collective affinities, to nullify federal immigration law, to hunt down and disrupt political opponents as they eat and sleep—and who not?

Whose ideologies logically lead to promoting iconoclasm and statue-toppling, the Orwellian renaming of streets and buildings, the defacing of public murals?
