Here in Southeastern Virginia a woman, Patricia Stall, favoring the abolition of public education just won in a Republican primary against against a sitting state Senator. True, he was Chair of the hugely unpopular Transportation Committee, which engineered a tax increase for Virginia's roads with the help of most of the Democrats in the VA legislature. But her unorthodox view did not kill her candidacy.
