Those racist peanut butter sandwiches

From the Portland Tribune:

Verenice Gutierrez picks up on the subtle language of racism every day.
Take the peanut butter sandwich, a seemingly innocent example a teacher used in a lesson last school year.
“What about Somali or Hispanic students, who might not eat sandwiches?” says Gutierrez, principal at Harvey Scott K-8 School, a diverse school of 500 students in Northeast Portland’s Cully neighborhood.
I recall that as an immigrant, my mother did not make peanut butter and jelly sandwiches when I when I went  to school.   I didn't realize that the mothers who did were such ugly racists.

Through intensive staff trainings, frequent staff meetings, classroom observations and other initiatives, the premise is that if educators can understand their own “white privilege,” then they can change their teaching practices to boost minority students’ performance.

You bet your ass that you had better get with the program if you are white and therefore privileged.

The smile on the face of evil.
If you have a problem with that:
" That’s your white privilege, and your whiteness.”

I seem to have misplaced my privilege. Can the smiling p*o*s help me find it?

Peanut butter sandwiches...I weep at the ignorance of America.

George Washington Carver, the black botanist and scientist, a man born into slavery, promoted peanuts and peanut butter. Peanuts are a legume that nitrogen fix via their roots. Soil in the south was depleted from too much cotton. Crops of peanuts restored the soil and Carter promoted peanut butter (he did not invent it but he definitely marketed it) to give farmers a market. The use of peanuts improved the land, improved the lives of poor black and white share croppers, and improved the economy.

Verenice Gutierrez is a dirty racist. She could also afford to skip a few lunches.

So Verenice Gutierrez (the idiot principal at Scott school in Portland, Oregon) thinks that peanut butter and jelly sandwiches are racist? This woman is beyond stupid and has no business being in a school. She certainly has no business being a principal of a school.

Let this idiot principal know what you think. Contact her!
