THE ASSOCIATED PRESS GOES AROUND THE BEND ON COMEY

Just think of them as Democrats with bylines and you'll understand.

The Real ‘War on Women’

Guess who doesn’t care about “rape culture?”

In March 2017, a 15-year-old girl in Chicago was lured into a basement and gang-raped by five to six males.

The girl was threatened with a pit bull if she tried to flee; she was picked up and thrown around. One of the participants live-streamed the rape on Facebook. So far, two boys, 15- and 14-years-old, have been arrested in the attack. The 15-year-old slapped the girl in the head while she was performing oral sex on him. Up to 40 people watched the rape live; none reported it to the police or to Facebook.

Since then, threats, taunts, social-media bullying, and physical assaults have been directed at . . . the victim and her family, not at the rapists. A group of girls beat the victim’s twelve-year-old sister last week, reports DNA Info Chicago. One of the girl’s attackers said: “Why [did] you send my brother to jail,” according to her mother. You want to see an example of “blaming the victim?” This is it. People ring the family’s doorbell and surround the home in a menacing way, the girl’s mother has told the Chicago Tribune. The victim has been moved to an undisclosed location to escape the constant insults and bullying, but the family has not yet raised enough money through a GoFundMe campaign to follow her.

Critics of campus feminists regularly suggest that if those alleged defenders of women’s rights and safety really want to upend “rape culture,” they might move to Afghanistan or Somalia. So far, no gender-studies professor seems to have taken up the suggestion. But here is a less demanding sojourn. Go to the inner city and confront the routine misogyny and violence directed at females, often by other females.

Last week, a social-media inspired fight broke out among girls at a suburban Philadelphia high school that injured half a dozen faculty members and three security officers. One female teacher was knocked unconscious; other teacher injuries included a dislocated shoulder and concussions. Teachers polled in a February 2017 “climate survey” at the school described endemic student violence and lawlessness, reports Philly.com.

Last year, a 17-year-old girl from Coney Island, Tajae Warner, was beaten to death by a group of teens led by 18-year-old Sabrina Agard-Ford; Ford’s blow knocked Warner out and she entered a fatal coma after hitting her head on the pavement.

Yet the Left continues to pump out a series of interlocking lies: that “rape culture” is a product of Western civilization exclusively, practiced primarily by heterosexual white males, and its most egregious seat is the pacific American college campus; that minorities are victimized predominantly by white racists; that police presence and proactive tactics in minority neighborhoods are a function of bias, not crime; that disparate racial rates of school discipline reveal teacher bias; that the disciplining of black girls, in particular, constitutes racial injustice.

The Left gets away with these lies because of the virtual taboo on the reporting of inner-city dysfunction.

This Sunday, a mass shooting broke out in Chicago at a memorial for a Hispanic gang member shot and killed hours earlier. Two masked men with rifles opened fire on the crowd gathered at the shrine, killing a woman and man and wounding eight others, reports DNA Info Chicago. The national media barely cocked an eye.

Last year in Chicago, 4,300 people were shot, one person every two hours, including two dozen children under the age of twelve. Had the victims been white, there would have been a revolution. But because the victims were overwhelmingly black, no one pays attention, both out of a reluctance to call attention to black crime and out of an unspoken assumption on the part of the media that that is simply what black people do.

Not surprisingly, this attitude is shared by the editors of the Virginian Pilot.

For Comey, a creature of the swamp, a deserved dunking

James Comey

By Charles Hurt:

This is what happens if you mess with the swamp. All the swamp creatures begin snapping and writhing and yowling like angry cats in the dark.

For the better part of a year now, the only thing everyone in Washington could agree upon was that now-ex FBI Director Jim Comey was an overreaching, underperforming dolt.
He fancied himself to be attorney general after he had lost all confidence in Loretta Lynch, the actual attorney general.

That was after Ms. Lynch had met privately on a jet with former President Bill Clinton on a tarmac in Phoenix. This was at a time when Mr. Clinton’s wife was running for president while under investigation by the attorney general and the FBI for criminal misuse of classified emails.

Wearing his Big Boy AG shoes last summer, Mr. Comey delivered the most damning nonindictment of Mrs. Clinton in the history of criminal justice.

After listing a long rap sheet of inexcusable, reckless and conspiratorial handling of state secrets over a purposely concealed home email server — designed specifically to shield Mrs. Clinton from public scrutiny — Mr. Comey jarringly announced that he was recommending that no charges would be forthcoming.

“Although there is evidence of potential violations of the statutes regarding the handling of classified information, our judgment is that no reasonable prosecutor would bring such a case,” he said, concluding his withering damnation of Mrs. Clinton last July.

But, lest any mere mortals think they might get away with doing the same thing Mrs. Clinton had done, Mr. Comey was blunt.
“To be clear, this is not to suggest that in similar circumstances, a person who engaged in this activity would face no consequences,” he warned. “To the contrary, those individuals are often subject to security or administrative sanctions.”

“But” he added, “that is not what we are deciding now.”

In other words, if you are a former first lady who is about to be the next president and whose husband is a former president who just met privately on a plane on a tarmac, then you won’t be charged. But if you are a mere citizen or public employee with no such influence, you’re gambling with your life and your career.

Ahhh, life in the swamp.

Read the whole thing.

OCEANIA HAS NEVER INVESTIGATED EASTASIA: The Government Investigates – and Andrew Klavan is on the case:

Thoughts on firing FBI Director Comey

With all the bloviating about Trump’s firing of FBI Director Comey it’s difficult to say something that others have not already said. But perhaps I can put it in my own way.

Comey was an ambivalent figure. The primary attribute I saw of him was the concept he had of his personal rectitude. Unfortunately some very bad people firmly believe that they are moral paragons. I won’t belabor the issue with examples of monsters who believed this, because Comey was not a monster, he was just badly mistaken.

Some see his press conference in which he listed Hillary’s decision to use a private server for her electronic communication as both an indictment and as a way of allowing the election to go forward because - in the end - he said that she would not be indicted for crimes she obviously committed. Then there’s his research into whether Donald Trump conspired with the Russians to rig the election, an accusation for which there has not been a single fact to support it. Then we hear that Comey’s FBI is not investigating the illegal leaking of classified information to the press; information that was designed to influence the last election and to tarnish the current incumbent. Or to investigate whether the Trump campaign was actually wiretapped – either in the traditional sense or in the modern sense of being subject to scrutiny by the NSA which information was subsequently used by Democrat political operatives.

There can be no question that Comey transgressed the bounds of Top Cop and entered into the extra-constitutional role of Top Prosecutor and Political Decider.

There have been more than enough transgressions of traditional roles in the last few decades; to have the nation top enforcement law agency overstep its proper role is more than troubling. It is deeply disturbing. When there are riots in the streets and the Democrats classify themselves as The Resistance - as if the Trump administration were Nazi occupiers - there is no good end without a crushing defeat of one side or the other. We just hope it won’t be as bloody as the end of World War II.

Richard Fernandez puts it well when he comments on the constitutional crisis enveloping the capitol.

The dismissal has already sparked a huge uproar. Keith Ellison tweeted "we are witnessing a Constitutional crisis unfold before our very eyes." The administration's calculation in firing him must have concluded uproars didn't matter any more, that it was time to begin open and undisguised conflict. Readers will recall the first time I argued that it had become a fight to the finish. Trump wasn't aiming to hold off his opponents. He was aiming to destroy them.

There really isn't much choice when one side is called the Resistance and the other side is presumably incumbent. Electoral democracy was supposed to prevent zero sum games, to guarantee multiple-variable optimization. The polarization of Washington puts all that at risk. But perhaps it was inevitable. The tolerance and apathy of former years, someone observed, were the deceptive last virtues of a dying society. Silence and guarded speech not a peace but whispering in the face of danger.
Truces can end with a shocking suddenness. Whatever Comey's role in recent events was he could not remain out in the wire.

Part of draining the swamp is to keep the people that can put you in jail, and kill you if you get out of line, in check. Whatever you think of Donald Trump, Comey had to go. It remains to be seen how this battle proceeds, but there can be little doubt that it will be a battle to the death.

In Fourth Circuit Hearing on Obama's Travel Restrictions, ACLU Lawyer Admits, Sure, This Executive Order Might Be Legal if Hillary Clinton Signed It

Via Ace of Spades

Well, this was all pretty much implied from the lower courts' reasoning -- which always centered not on the law itself, but on statements Trump made (or was alleged by Rudy Giulliani to have made).

Minus those statements, then the EO passes muster. It's facially constitutional. But they're saying a bad man wants to pass it, which makes it unconstitutional by prior statements.

There is no such category. Courts distinguish between a law, order, or rule being facially unconstitutional -- the law or order or rule's own words themselves contain unconstitutional directives -- and unconstitutional-as-applied, where a mandate may be written in a way that is perfectly constitutional, but as actually applied by officials, is discriminatory. A good example of this, which courts aren't bothered by at all, is that "hate crimes" legislation is mostly executed in an unconstitutional-as-applied way: It's mostly a crime that only white people can be guilty of.

But while those distinctions exist, there is no "facially constitutional but unconstitutional because Trump is a very bad man who uses very bad words" category.

And in fact you can't even fault this directive for being discriminatory -- Presidents are permitted to be discriminatory as regards non-US-citizens coming into the country.

The ACLU lawyer, quizzed by judges on this strange new doctrine they were arguing for, admitted that sure, Hillary Clinton signing the same EO would be perfectly constitutional, because she's not a Very Bad Man like Trump.

Being raped by a white frat guy is life-altering OTOH being raped by an illegal immigrant is no big thing .... she'll get over it.

A girl wearing a Scout uniform willingly acknowledged that she could be raped by an immigrant, something that is happening to women across Europe in record numbers. Then, she essentially reasoned, I’ll get over it, and the Western world lifts her up as a hero. She justified rape in the name of political discourse. A Girl Scout opened herself up to sexual assault for the sake of her political beliefs.

What Myslikova said was profound. Profoundly scary. What, exactly, is the Girl Scout movement teaching young women today? That they must sacrifice themselves on the altar of “diversity, peace and understanding”? If they’re expecting Myslikova and her Scout sisters to live up to the Girl Scout law of being “responsible for what I say and do,” that’s pretty damned horrifying.

Good to know.

4 Bill Shine Fired Me, Now I’m Ready to Defend Him

Bill Shine was one of the people who forced me out of my job of 20 years at Fox News.

Despite that, I’m convinced that he was not an enabler of sexual harassment, but a victim.

Read the whole thing and then think about this:

It’s almost as though the Murdochs don’t mind the bad press, which just may just be the strategy. If you want to “remake” and soften a company that is wildly profitable and popular, it would be unwise to change its leadership without good reason.

Instead, it would be much smarter to let these sexual harassment charges boil and to be the hero who finally “fixed” things over there. You didn’t ruin Fox News … you saved it.

It’s nasty business.

Obama Wrote America Is A ‘Racist Society’ In An Unreleased Manuscript

In an unpublished manuscript, former President Barack Obama and a friend wrote that America is a “racist society” that pushes an ideology that infects the minds of whites and blacks.

Pulitzer Prize winning author David Garrow is set to reveal information about this unpublished book in his upcoming biography “Rising Star: The Making of Barack Obama.”

In an interview on the Jamie Weinstein Show released Wednesday, Garrow opened up about his upcoming book and told Weinstein, “I think that people irrespective of their political views or partisan identification will be astonished. I cannot say that too strongly. Will be profoundly astonished by how much important substance of Barack Obama’s life has not previously been known and that’s not in a negative context necessarily at all.”
Who's the racist?

Race relations severely deteriorated during Obama’s two terms. Is it Obama that is the real racist?

How Russia Became the Leader of Traditional Christianity

I changed the title a little.

If present trends continue Russia will be more Christian than the West in another few decades.

Reading past Politico's anti-Right and anti-Christian (a "must" for Liberalism) this is interesting and would have been unthinkable 50 years ago when the official religion of the USSR was militant atheism.

In Western Europe the great churches are mostly tourist attractions and Western culture is fast declining because multiculturalism trumps tradition for opinion leaders. The most steadfast in the faith are Muslims who will soon outnumber the natives of the countries they have migrated to.

In the U.S. the popular culture equates Christianity and Islam as equally bad and religion the cause of all conflict.

What kind of crazy world are we living in, when the only people speaking in defense of “traditional morals” are Chinese Communists?

Ling Bing, the women’s basketball team coach at Huazhong University of Science and Technology of Central China, posted a photo of team members carrying the banner online, The New York Times reported [April 20].

“Protect traditional Chinese morals,” read the banner. “Defend core socialist values. Resist corrosion from decadent Western thoughts. Keep homosexuality far from campus.”

Upon receiving backlash for posting the picture, Ling noted what he perceived to be a “double standard” — gay students flaunt rainbow flags at graduation, but the banner held by his basketball team was deemed wrong, as reported by The New York Times.

A Matter of Trust

Remember when?

You complain about “fake news,” but you, more than anyone and anything, have contributed to that phenomenon with your constant failure to report objectively, your inability to report on the story without sticking your political dick into it, your outright contempt for your audiences, and your intentional and sometimes malicious obfuscation. These egregious misdeeds are well-documented. Your inability to accurately report the story without snark or subjective garbage has made you something to be derided. The public trust in what you dish out is at an all time low.

Are you really surprised that people seek out other sources of information? And are you really shocked when they begin to believe whatever they’re fed – even by ignorant, uninformed bloggers with their own agendas – as long as it’s not through you? Is it any wonder that any number of fake, misleading, biased sites have popped up to fill the void? You suck at your job, so someone else has to do it – no matter how poorly!

You twist words. You omit critical information. You conceal your own opinions in a torrent of word salad, and try and mask it as factual reporting. You obfuscate. You insert inflammatory language into a straight news report to elicit a certain reaction.

Take this current example from NPR. From the very title and first paragraph, not only do we know what the writer feels on the topic of Trump extending a program to afford veterans an opportunity to seek health care from private doctors, but we can also see how said writer tries to shape the reader’s opinion on the topic!

Trump Extends Troubled VA Program That Pays Private Doctors

Yeah, let’s make private doctors seem like a negative, dirty phrase, instead of an opportunity to choose for those who have made significant sacrifices for our country, and are now stuck in a broken, corrupt VA system.
It’s a fix that hasn’t fixed much, but the troubled Veterans Choice program has been extended anyway.

Hasn’t fixed much, according to whom? The author, who quite obviously hates it that veterans have a choice, and is taking the opportunity to slam the administration?

Veterans Choice is designed to allow veterans who have waited more than 30 days for an appointment at a VA facility, or who live more than 40 miles from one, instead to get care from private providers who then bill the VA. But it has been plagued with problems. Many vets complain that Choice actually makes getting care more difficult and time-consuming, and some health care providers have dropped out due to slow payments or administrative hassles.

“Plagued with problems.” Because that’s not inflammatory language or anything!

“Many vets complain.” How many? I checked a Facebook page for Veterans’ complaints about the program itself. There were fewer than 20 since March, 2016. A January 2017 IG report detailed some of the problems investigators found with the program, including VC’s inadequate network of providers (I’m guessing due to the VA having 90 days to implement choice, which for a government bureaucracy is daunting, to say the least), and lack of strong oversight into payments for participating providers.

While, NPR derps about “many vets complaining,” it doesn’t provide actual numbers, nor does it note that only 13 percent of eligible veterans actually took advantage of the program, according to the IG report!

By omitting contextual information and using obviously inflammatory language to obliquely condemn the Trump Administration for having extended the program, the NPR undermined its own credibility in a transparent attempt to influence reader opinion on the issue.

Former Obama Official: Bureaucrats Manipulate Climate Stats To Influence Policy

A former member of the Obama administration claims Washington D.C. often uses “misleading” news releases about climate data to influence public opinion.

Former Energy Department Undersecretary Steven Koonin told The Wall Street Journal Monday that bureaucrats within former President Barack Obama’s administration spun scientific data to manipulate public opinion.

“What you saw coming out of the press releases about climate data, climate analysis, was, I’d say, misleading, sometimes just wrong,” Koonin said, referring to elements within the Obama administration he said were responsible for manipulating climate data.

And every lie gets re-printed on the front page of the Virginian Pilot. They're no more gullible than the average scientific illiterate that works for the media, they're just true believers in the Church of Global Warming.

Chelsea Clinton Gets Another Award For Doing Nothing Special

Like her mother before her, Chelsea Clinton appears to be creating a cottage industry for herself in receiving random awards for her unparalleled contributions to society, scintillating takes on current events, and incredibly generous heart.

Not content with just her Variety-sponsored “achievement award,” Chelsea on Tuesday night accepted the annual City Harvest Award for Commitment in fighting hunger in New York City.

Before we claim that she’s done nothing to earn a major award, aside from sitting in a privileged position atop her family’s namesake foundation, or say that she has few actual commitments aside from spending her family’s money and attending a single board meeting for Expedia lest she forfeit the several hundred thousand dollars she earns in her honorary position, in this case, it appears Chelsea did do at least something to earn her award.

On a single day in 2017, she helped City Harvest pack some grapefruit.

How do I get into this racket?

Here’s How Wrong Past Environmental Predictions Have Been

In 1970, when Earth Day was conceived, the late George Wald, a Nobel laureate biology professor at Harvard University, predicted, “Civilization will end within 15 or 30 years unless immediate action is taken against problems facing mankind.”

Also in 1970, Paul Ehrlich, a Stanford University biologist and best-selling author of “The Population Bomb,” declared that the world’s population would soon outstrip food supplies.

In an article for The Progressive, he predicted, “The death rate will increase until at least 100-200 million people per year will be starving to death during the next 10 years.”

He gave this warning in 1969 to Britain’s Institute of Biology: “If I were a gambler, I would take even money that England will not exist in the year 2000.”

On the first Earth Day, Ehrlich warned, “In 10 years, all important animal life in the sea will be extinct.”

Despite such predictions, Ehrlich has won no fewer than 16 awards, including the 1990 Crafoord Prize, the Royal Swedish Academy of Sciences’ highest award.

Read the whole thing.

Let me tell you what science is. It is research into nature. In chemistry, my specialty, it's the ability to combine elements and molecules to produce a new compound. It could be new and unique or it could be a repeat of an old experiment. But if it's done right it will always get the same result. A chemist will predicts that if you combine A and B under stated conditions you will always get C. If his prediction does not come true he will change his mind and admit that he failed. In the so-called "science" of global warming predictions have proven to be totally and utterly wrong. However the fake "scientists" get more money and their past failures are ignored. Instead they get prizes and awards.

The Mark Steyn Show with Jordan Peterson

\\

“The Evil of Postmodernism.”

Jordan Peterson is the Canadian psychology professor who declined last September to employ — as directed by his university administration — transgender pronouns when addressing students in his classroom who wanted not to be he or she.
