Jim Treacher points out that US State Department had credible information 48 hours before mobs charged the consulate in Benghazi, and the embassy in Cairo, that American missions may be targeted, but no warnings were given for diplomats to go on high alert and “lockdown”, under which movement is severely restricted.
Where was Barack? He was busy.
The White House has issued the usual non-denial denial, saying they were “not aware of any actionable intelligence indicating that an attack on the U.S. Mission in Benghazi was planned or imminent.” Which, as Allahpundit points out, isn’t what this report says. It says there was intelligence that our embassies might be targeted on 9/11. Which you might think would’ve prompted somebody to give our guys some extra security. Some sort of warning. But no.
Blame Romney. That seems to be working.
