Obama's Silver Spoon

Obama:
Unlike some people, I wasn’t born with a silver spoon in my mouth
At Hot Air Allahpundit comments:
Maybe this explains why he used to eat dogs. Eating horses was reserved for rich kids.
But this concedes a point that should be contested.  Years ago when I was on the expense account, friends of mine used to say “I don’t want to be a millionaire, I just want to live like one.” That describes Obama to a T. He’s been given the best of everything thanks to a wealthy grandmother (who gave Barack half a million in bank stock) and affirmative action for a “clean and articulate” (to quote Joe Biden) black man.

How privileged was Obama? Let a Hawaiian tell you.
I live in Hawaii…Obama went to Punahou. As we say in Hawaii, kids from Punahou are the rich ones…Punahou is where some of the most wealthiest Americans went to school (AOL/Time Warners’ Steve Case, Ebay’s Pierre Omidyar, Cox’s Enterprise Barbara Cox’s children, Dole Industries founder Sanford Dole, Blair Kennedy (Australia’s second most wealthiest woman). Obama’s grandmother was the highest ranking and highest paid woman at the bank she worked at (First Hawaiian now owned by BancWest and has assets of nearly $13 Billion)…sure it was the 70′s and women didn’t earn as much as men, however, it was good enough to put Barry through a school with tuition this year at $18,450 per year…not too shabby for a guy who says he wasn’t born with a silver spoon in his mouth…I make good money, and consider myself upper middle class and I still can’t afford to send my sons to Punahou…
I would say that financially, Romney and Obama started at about the same place. Romney was just a lot more successful.

Obama never ever said "unlike some people" the rest of the quote is accurate.

You are correct. Now why do you think he said that? Is that in response to someone claiming he was born with a silver spoon in his mouth? Is it a non-sequitur? Is there an implied comparison? If not, why did he bother saying it? He also ate a dog.

@Moneyrunner. Why sit around asking questions into thin air? If you listen to the rest of Obama's quote you will know the context of that statement. Whereas I do not know why Steve Doocy unjournalistically added the snarky "Unlike Some People," addition to Obama's quote, other than to smear him.

Dear Fish, thank you. First, thanks to your comment I noticed that I misspelled Silver in the headline. Second, what’s with the un-journalistically? Are you trying to say that “journalists” don’t try to get at the implications of what politicians are trying to say (wink, wink?). Are you trying to deny that there was a “Journolist” during the 2008 election that was in the tank for Obama. Have you drummed them out of the journalist profession? If so, I have not noticed. They are all gainfully employed by the MSM. And third, why is saying that Obama was trying to compare his upbringing to Romney’s a smear? As I asked before, why is the GUY WHO ATE DOGS trying to point out that he was not born with a silver spoon in his mouth? How about a toothpick to remove the dog from the roof of his mouth?
