Obamacare Website Quietly Deletes Reference to 'Free Health Care'

Apparently the Obama White House lied to its supporters that their health care would be free under ObamaCare.

Even as President Obama and his administration are making a last minute push to encourage enrollment in Obamacare, a quiet change was made on the Healthcare.gov website regarding those who will still not be able to afford coverage after the program kicks in. From at least June 26, 2013 to as recently as September 15, under the topic, "Where can I get free or low-cost care in my community?" the following statement appeared: "If you can't afford any health plan, you can get free or low-cost health and dental care at a nearby community health center." Here is how the page in question appeared:
However, sometime between September 16 and September 23, the reference to "free" care was dropped. The title of the topic was changed as well, and now reads: "Where can I get low-cost care in my community?" Here is how the page currently appears:
A number of other "freebies" were also scrubbed including "dental" care, "prescription drugs," and "specialized care for more serious conditions. Read the whole thing.

Earth Day predictions of 1970.

Here are some of the hilarious, spectacularly wrong predictions made on the occasion of Earth Day 1970.

I'm sorry, but we have to talk about the barbarism of modern Islamist terrorism

What motivates this perversity? What are its origins? Unwilling, or perhaps unable, to face up to the newness of this unrestrained, aim-free, civilian-targeting violence, Western observers do all sorts of moral contortions in an effort to present such violence as run-of-the-mill or even possibly a justifiable response to Western militarism. Some say, “Well, America kills women and children too, in its drone attacks”, wilfully overlooking the fact such people are not the targets of America’s military interventions – and I say that as someone who has opposed every American venture overseas of the past 20 years. If you cannot see the difference between a drone strike that goes wrong and kills an entire family and a man who crashes his car into the middle of a group of children accepting sweets from a US soldier and them blows himself and them up – as happened in Iraq in 2005 – then there is something wrong with you. Other observers say that Islamists, particularly in Iraq and Afghanistan, but also the individuals who attacked London and New York, are fighting against Western imperialism in Muslim lands. But that doesn’t add up. How does blowing up Iraqi children represent a strike against American militarism? How is detonating a bomb on the London Underground a stab at the Foreign Office? It is ridiculous, and more than a little immoral, to try to dress up nihilistic assaults designed merely to kill as many ordinary people as possible as some kind of principled political violence.

Ten states where Obamacare wipes out existing health care plans

Remember when Obama said:
“If you are among the hundreds of millions of Americans who already have health insurance through your job, or Medicare, or Medicaid, or the VA, nothing in this plan will require you or your employer to change the coverage or the doctor you have,”
He lied.

Why is Obama trying to shut down the government?

Republicans in the House have sent to the Senate a bill that fully funds all government programs except the implementation of ObamaCare, a very unpopular program that most American don't want. Why do the Democrats insist on shutting down the government if they don't get their way?

The administration and media are hard at work trying to push the idea of an uncompromising GOP taking the economy hostage. The real question: why won’t Obama and the Democrats negotiate?

Why do they hate the American people so much?

Obama threatened to stop Social Security checks if he doesn't get his way.  Why does Obama hate old people so much?

Obama threatened to not pay soldiers if he doesn't get his way.  Why does Obama hate the men and women defending the country so much?

Hospitals are shutting down because of ObamaCare.  Why does Obama hate sick people so much?

People are losing full time jobs because of ObamaCare.  Why does Obama hate working people so much?

Lake Charles pastor shot to death during church service

LAKE CHARLES, LA (KPLC) -
A pastor was shot and killed during a church service on Friday night in Calcasieu Parish.

According to Calcasieu Parish Sheriff's Office spokeswoman Kim Myers, it happened around 8:20 p.m. at the Tabernacle of Praise Worship Center at 307 Deshotel Lane in Lake Charles.

Myers said Pastor Ronald J. Harris Sr. was shot "as he was preaching."

Woodrow Karey Jr., 53, of Lake Charles, is accused of walking into the church and shooting Harris.

Myers said Harris, of Lake Charles, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Myers said Karey shot Harris with a shotgun twice, once when he walked into the church and a second time when Harris fell to the floor. Myers said Karey walked up to him and shot him at close range.

Karey fled on foot, Myers said, but called the Sheriff's Office and surrendered without incident.
I'll give heavy odds that there is a woman involved.

Worse Is the New Normal - By Design

Mark Steyn replies to a comment made by a reader:
an exasperated reader wrote to advise me to lighten up, on the grounds that “we’re rich enough to be stupid.” That’s to say, Western democracies and their citizens are the wealthiest societies ever known, and no matter how much of our energies are wasted on pointless hyper-regulation for the business class and multigenerational welfare for the dependency class and Transgender and Colonialism Studies for our glittering youth, we can afford it, and the central fact of our wealth will ensure that our fortunes do not change.

But we live in a world which is actually very carefully balanced on a precipice. We may be wealthy, fat, living in McManions. But the modern world around us is actually much more than simply assemblies of brick, wood and metal. It’s a finely tuned system that’s very vulnerable to disruption. Let the power go off for a few days or weeks and you quickly find that you can’t cook. Let the time expand to a few months and you run out of food because there is no transportation, no refrigeration, no light or heat, not “health care” system. High rise buildings become uninhabitable to the average urban dweller. It’s at that point that you realize that all the gadgets that make our lives what they are become useless lumps of metal and plastic little more use than the raw material from which they were formed. It’s at that point that the people who are most likely to survive are the naked nomadic herdsmen you once saw pictured in National Geographic magazine, if they actually still exist.

Steyn concludes:
Obama’s pointless, traceless super-spending is now (as they used to say after 9/11) “the new normal.” Nancy Pelosi assured the nation last weekend that everything that can be cut has been cut and there are no more cuts to be made. And the disturbing thing is that, as a matter of practical politics, she may well be right. Many people still take my correspondent’s view: If you have old money well managed, you can afford to be stupid — or afford the government’s stupidity on your behalf. If you’re a social-activist celebrity getting $20 million per movie, you can afford the government’s stupidity. If you’re a tenured professor or a unionized bureaucrat whose benefits were chiseled in stone two generations ago, you can afford it. If you’ve got a wind farm and you’re living large on government “green energy” investments, you can afford it. If you’ve got the contract for signing up Obamaphone recipients, you can afford it.

But out there beyond the islands of privilege most Americans don’t have the same comfortably padded margin for error, and they’re hunkering down. Obamacare is something new in American life: the creation of a massive bureaucracy charged with downsizing you — to a world of fewer doctors, higher premiums, lousier care, more debt, fewer jobs, smaller houses, smaller cars, smaller, fewer, less; a world where worse is the new normal. Would Americans, hitherto the most buoyant and expansive of people, really consent to live such shrunken lives? If so, mid-20th-century America and its assumptions of generational progress will be as lost to us as the Great Ziggurat of Ur was to 19th-century Mesopotamian date farmers.

George Orwell, after attending a meeting of impoverished but passive miners, remarked sadly that “there is no turbulence left in England.” The Democrats, and much of the Republican establishment, have made a bet that there is no turbulence left in America, and the citizenry will stand mute before Obamacare’s wrecking ball. Unless they’re willing to accept a worse life for their children and grandchildren, middle-class Americans need to prove them wrong.
It takes a lot to destroy a nation as big and wealthy as ours.  But the very things that have made us wealthy have created vulnerabilities that most people are as unaware of as were the people who boarded those jet planes on 9/11/2001 and failed to live till the end of the day.

The Washington Post Warns Republicans About the Tea Party.

In a news analysis article headlined Obamacare fight reenergizes tea party movement
we find this piece of advice from one of the Democrat Party's leading organs: the Washington Post:
But the tea party’s renewed presence also poses serious political risks for Republicans, undermining efforts to broaden the party’s appeal. The movement itself could be blamed for contributing to Washington’s dysfunction if it helps set in motion a government shutdown next week or, later in October, a national credit default.
Well, you can bet that no matter how this fight turns out, the Washington Post will blame the Tea Party. That's a sure bet. Here's another sure bet: Words you will never see in a Washington Post article:

"But the extreme rhetoric coming from Democrats, calling Republicans terrorists, jihadist and suicide bombers poses serious political risks for Democrats, undermining efforts to broaden the party’s appeal."
That's because the WaPo is written by Democrat operative with bylines.

The Vagina as Commodity: What Does the Pubic Depilation Phenomenon Mean?

Robert Stacy McCain on the "new" sexual normal.
The venerable ideal of pre-marital chastity, for example, has given way to the expectation that everyone will participate in the Hook-Up Culture. A person who is not sexually active by the time they’re old enough to get a driver’s license is considered abnormal, and no one seems to imagine it possible that a virgin could graduate college. If everybody is screwing around promiscuously, it becomes impossible even to discuss promiscuity as a phenomenon, because it’s simply what everybody does. Screwing around becomes a normative expectation.

Attendant to this expectation is the understanding that sex is now a matter of competitive performance: In an environment where everyone is presumed to have had multiple previous partners, lovers are striving to out-do their partner’s previous lovers in a sort of erotic sweepstakes pageant, with the goal of impressing one’s partner as exceptionally skilled at various sexual routines.

Only in such an environment can there be a ubiquitous fashion in genital grooming, and one wonders why young women — who otherwise are taught to emulate feminist ideals by resisting male demands — go along with this trend so compliantly.

Increasingly, it seems, women are encouraged to view their sexuality as a commodity in the consumer marketplace, and this attitude has become so common that no one even stops to consider just how weirdly unnatural and unhealthy this attitude is.

Sex jihad

OK, you may ask: what is sex jihad?
Last Thursday, during an address to the National Constituent Assembly, Tunisian Interior Minister Lotfi Bin Jeddo announced that Tunisian girls who had traveled to Syria to perform “sex jihad” had returned after being sexually “swapped between 20, 30, and 100 rebels and they come back bearing the fruit of sexual contacts [from pregnancies to diseases] in the name of sexual jihad and we are silent doing nothing and standing idle.”

But isn't this kind of sex forbidden to Muslims? Well, as Bill Clinton might say, it depends.
... the overarching rule of [Islamic] jurisprudence asserts that “necessity makes permissible the prohibited.” And if obligatory matters can only be achieved by performing the prohibited, then it becomes obligatory to perform the prohibited, and there is no greater duty than jihad.
In other words:
Two important points emerge here: first, jihad is the “pinnacle” of Islam—for it makes Islam supreme; and second, the idea that “necessity makes permissible the prohibited.” Thus, because making Islam supreme through jihad is the greatest priority, anything and everything that is otherwise banned becomes permissible.
So you see, all that straight-laced imagery we get about Muslim women with they heads covered with shawls so that their hair does not incite men to acts of sexual immorality, like these shown in the Virginian Pilot putting on a cooking demonstration is but one of the manifestations of Islam.  The women, by the way are not in Saudi Arabia but are students at ODU in Norfolk, Virginia.

But there is a higher duty, like this:
Other interviewed women have told of how they were “fooled,” or how their husbands (they being one of four wives) divorced and sent them to Syria for the sex jihad, with assurances that they would be guaranteed paradise in the afterlife. One 16-year-old explained how her father ordered her to have sex with several jihadi “liberators.”

As time passes and people open up, we learn a lot.  And some of it if still surprises us.

Obama, the over-anxious suitor, is spurned ... by a guy in a dress.

Just a few days ago the American press corps, otherwise known as the "Obama Chorus," was giggling like a bunch of schoolgirls about the much anticipated handshake between Obama and the new Iranian President Hassan Rouhani.  This was stage managed to be a "chance" meeting in a UN hallway leading to a full-blown romance between Obama as the Romeo who would sweep Rouhani off his slippers.

Instead, Obama was brushed off like one of the Wannabees in "Mean Girls."

I don't know what's more humiliating, being stood up by Iran's president telling you that He's Just Not That Into You , or being a resident of a country whose President is stood up like the guy who can't get a date.

My life of hell in an Afghan harem

Why would a nice Jewish girl marry a Muslim Afghan?

It is 1959. I am only 18 when my prince — a dark, older, handsome, westernized foreigner who had traveled abroad from his native home in Afghanistan — bedazzles me.

We meet at Bard College, where he is studying economics and politics and I am studying literature on scholarship.

Abdul-Kareem is the son of one of the founders of the modern banking system in Afghanistan. He wears designers sunglasses and bespoke suits and when he visits New York City, he stays at the Plaza.

He is also Muslim.

I am Jewish, raised in an Orthodox home in Borough Park, Brooklyn, the daughter of Polish immigrants. My dad worked door-to-door selling soda and seltzer.

But none of this matters. We don’t talk about religion. Instead, we stay up all night discussing film, opera and theater. We are bohemians.

We date for two years. Then, when I express my desire to travel, he asks me to marry him.

I don't think we're getting the whole story here, but it doesn't matter. She arrives in Kabul and finds what it's like to live in a compound with a mother-in-law who's ready to kill her if she doesn't obey.  And a husband who's transformed from a well dressed, "Westernized" bohemian to a Muslim in a Muslim society.  Let's just say that it's not what she expected.

She finally escapes, sick and pregnant. And she not only survives but learns something about the romantic image that Liberalism weaves with its fantasy of multiculturalism.

I’ve never told this story in detail before, but felt that I must now. Because I hear some westerners preach the tortured cultural relativism that excuses the mistreatment of women in the name of Islam. Because I see the burqa on the streets of Paris and New York and feel that Afghanistan has followed me back to America.

I call myself a feminist — but not just any feminist. My kind of feminism was forged in the fires of Afghanistan. There I received an education — an expensive, almost deadly one — but a valuable one, too.

I understand firsthand how deep-seated the hatred of women is in that culture. I see how endemic indigenous barbarism and cruelty is and unlike many other intellectuals and feminists, I don’t try to romanticize or rationalize it.

I got out, and I will never return.
She also manages to translate the experiences she had at the hands of her first lover to her all men.  She was primed for it as a young girl and never really learned to outgrow it as a woman.  It should have been a teachable moment; instead she incorporated her treatment in Afghanistan into her skewed worldview.  Rather sad.

In the Mean Times

Bud Norman notes that the Left has gotten increasingly hateful, from the President on down to the shock troops in the trenches of academia and politics.

At the very highest levels of the Democratic party the president routinely tells audiences that his opposition is motivated by the desire to cause the poor and sick to suffer while making the environment uninhabitable, and it invariably gets a big hand from the hand-picked crowds of true believers. With such mean rhetoric coming from the leaders, it’s not surprising that the followers would start hoping for the death of sons and daughters....

Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid has recently described the “tea party” legislators attempting to limit the debt and de-fund Obamacare as “anarchists” and “fanatics.” It’s nice to know that “anarchist” is still a term of opprobrium in Democratic circles, given their longtime indulgence of the black-masked thugs going by that name who terrorized the past several international economic summits, but the insult does not bode well for any bipartisan solutions to the nation’s problems....

Yet another story involves a journalism professor at the University of Kansas, who took to the “tweets” after the mass murder at Washington’s Navy Yard to say “The blood is on the hands of the NRA. Next time, let is be YOUR sons and daughters. Shame on you. May God damn you.” ...

One story concerns the Sacramento Democratic Party’s communications chairman, of all people, who responded to a “Tweet” advocating the de-funding of Obamacare by writing on his own “Twitter” account: “May your children all die from debilitating, painful and incurable diseases.”

Can't we all just get along?

Or is this the next step?

We already have the police arresting a man for speaking up at a public meeting.

"Religion of Peace" at work

From the NY Times:
A suicide attack on a historic church in northwestern Pakistan killed at least 78 people on Sunday in one of the deadliest attacks on the Christian minority in Pakistan in years.

In March, a Muslim mob swarmed through a Christian neighborhood in the eastern city of Lahore, burning two churches and more than 100 houses. Christians also frequently find themselves accused of blasphemy under Pakistan’s strict blasphemy laws.

And from the UK Daily Mail

'If they found me, I'm white... so I'm dead': Survivors reveal how gunman executed non-Muslims - after asking them to name Prophet Mohammed's mother.
Survivors said they saw fellow shoppers mercilessly executed after being singled out as non-Muslim.
Shoppers said people were lined up and gunned down for failing to recite passages from the Koran.
Men, women and children were lined up and then gunned down with AK-47s after failing to name the Prophet Mohammed’s mother or recite passages from the Koran – sure-fire proof they were ‘kafirs’, or non-believers.

At least 68 people killed in attack - including three Britons - at Westgate shopping centre

Somalian terrorist group al-Shabaab - which has links to Al Qaeda - claims responsibility for attack on Saturday

I don't know why these Muslims are being labeled as "extremist" by the writer of the Times article.  They sound like devout mainstream Muslims to me.

When you read the entire Times article note that the writers go to great pains to point out that the Muslims are also killing each other.  They noted that the dead included two Muslim police officers who had been posted outside the church. To underscore the point that Christians should not feel uniquely aggrieved there was this: "The attack coincided with a broader wave of attacks on religious minorities, including Shiite Muslims this year." And, of course, the bloody, mangled body of the "Religion of Peace" was being paraded once again: "In a statement, Mr. Sharif [Pakistan's Prime Minister] said, “The terrorists have no religion, and targeting innocent people is against the teachings of Islam and all religions.” The Pakistan Ulema Council, the largest clerical body, also condemned the blast, saying that the council was “standing with our Christian brothers in this tragedy.” The opposition leader Imran Khan, who has advocated initiating peace talks with the militants, expressed solidarity with the Christian community but also repeated his call to tackle terrorism in the country.

So, you see, brothers and sisters, the fact that Christians, a tiny minority, are being exterminated in a Muslim land, is not an indication of religious persecution, but an accidental by-product of an amorphous thing the Times call terrorism.  And lest you think the Times is alone in this, don't be silly.  They set the tone for the rest of the MSM.  If you call it anything else, or point to a particular religion as the driving force, you are a bigot. Get it?

Fred Reed

I once read Fred Reed.  He's very hard to define and he's often just a BS artist, but when he's on a roll he's a very good writer.  Some thoughts ... (read the whole thing.)
1) “Much of the unpleasantness of modern life occurs because we will say ‘No’ to almost nothing.”

2) “Is there anything the courts cannot make us do? I doubt it.” . . .

“The problem with being a nation of laws is that whoever controls the laws then controls the nation.”

3) “The news racket ought to be, and was, a trade of honest drunks. . . . Now reporters are New Age, prissy, and censorious. The men wear lingerie and the women don’t know what it is. You can just tell that if you left them in a fern bar, they would nest, talk about multiculturalism, and lay eggs.”

4) “Some call it sophistication but, if so, it’s the sophistication that comes of growing up in a whorehouse. We celebrate casual bastardy, elevate the sleazy and inadequate to high moral principle. We bathe in civilization’s bilges. I think a lot of us notice it.”

5) “Diversity means students who can barely read, don’t want to, and haven’t the foggiest idea what the purpose of a university might be. . . .

“Where I come from, diversity just means you have to lock your bicycle up. And stay in at night, and carry a gun, and watch your daughter and chickens. And I figure that if people loot stores, they just aren’t civilized, and don’t belong among decent folk, and ought to be in jail. . . . Like I say, I’m simple.”

Let's face it even if you're afraid to say it, what comes to your mind when you think "diversity?"  As I said, read the rest.

If God be for us, who can be against us?

Paul's letter to the Romans:

31 What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?

32 He who did not spare his own Son, but gave him up for us all—how will he not also, along with him, graciously give us all things?

33 Who will bring any charge against those whom God has chosen? It is God who justifies.

34 Who then is the one who condemns? No one. Christ Jesus who died—more than that, who was raised to life—is at the right hand of God and is also interceding for us.

35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall trouble or hardship or persecution or famine or nakedness or danger or sword?

36 As it is written:  “For your sake we face death all day long; we are considered as sheep to be slaughtered.”

37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us.

38 For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers,

39 neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.

Fear nothing for God is there.

Merkel Sees Biggest Victory Since Kohl’s Reunification Vote

Merkel’s Christian Democratic bloc took 41.8 percent in today’s election to 25.5 percent for the Social Democrats of Peer Steinbrueck, projections on ZDF television as of 8:57 p.m. showed.

Most of the Leftist parties were under 10%.
The Greens, with which the SPD governed from 1998 to 2005, took 8.4 percent, and the anti-capitalist Left Party got 8.5 percent, according to the projections. The anti-euro Alternative for Germany had 4.8 percent.

The largest rival to Merkel's Christian Democrats is the Social Democrats (SPD) which got 25.5% of the vote. The Free Democrats received 4.7% of the vote, below the 5% needed to win seats in the parliament.

Taking a page from Michelle Obama's book, the Greens decided that it would be a good idea to propose that public cafeterias go meat-free on a designated "Veggie Day" each week in order to help the environment and reduce cruelty to animals.
Earlier this year, the Greens were polling consistently in the double digits, often around 15% to 16%. However, since the "Veggie Day" story broke in August, the party's following has dropped to as low as 9% in some polls.
It appears that the Veggie platform was so badly received that the Greens did worse than their worst expectations.

Al-Shabaab: Three Americans Among Gunmen in Kenya Mall

The death toll at the mall under attack in Kenya is now 86. Among the killers are three Americans.

Al-Shabaab is claiming that there are American gunmen among those still holed up in the Westgate mall in a standoff with Kenyan and Israeli special forces....

“We received permission to disclose the names of our mujahideen inside #Westgate,” their latest account tweeted.

They proceeded to tweet the names one by one, including Ahmed Mohamed Isse, 22, “native” of St. Paul, Minn., Abdifatah Osman Keenadiid, 24, of Minneapolis, and Gen Mustafe Noorudiin, 27, of Kansas City, Mo.
All good old American names.

The Twin Cities in Minnesota appears to be a hotbed of al Qaeda activity. Could it have anything to do with Minnesota's politics? Few elected officials are not member of the DFL Party(Democrat-Farm-Labor).  The home of Al Franken (who won election thanks to a trunkful of ballots that were found after the election was over) and Keith Ellison (the only Muslim Senator).   And then of course there are the Muslim cab drivers who won't carry dogs or alcohol.

Remember Obama's boast of having "decimated" al Qaeda?  Not so fast, Tonto.
How many ways can you say, “workplace violence”? The writers of the Narrative have their work cut out for them tonight. With hostages still in the grasp of al-Shabab in Kenya, ABC News reports that 43 people have died in a suicide bombing attack on a church in Pakistan.

Police officer Mohammad Noor Khan says the bomber struck as worshippers were coming out of services at the church in the city’s Kohati Gate district. He said the attacker’s severed legs were found.
Hard-line militants have been blamed for previous attacks on Pakistan’s Christian minority, as well as Muslim groups they consider heretics.

Unsurprisingly, women and children were killed. The BBC says that “a bomb blast outside a church” wreaked the customary havoc and “the victims were said to include women and children.” The numbers are still rising: the VOA has upped the death toll to 50, with a hundred more wounded, and NBC News now has the number of dead at 55.

Since only a little over 1% of the population in that region is still Christian there isn’t a whole lot of design margin left among the holdouts. They are going to be wiped out. Not that the administration has proved very sensitive on the issue of ethnic cleansing without a lobby to plead on their behalf. The administration’s effort to reach out to the Muslim community has proved so successful one wonders Who’s On First. Or who employs whom. Andy McCarthy noted that “Gehad [as in Jihad] el-Haddad”, the spokesman for the Muslim Brotherhood, was recently arrested in Egypt on terrorism charges. Prior to his arrest he was a top official for the Clinton Foundation.

Before emerging as a top Brotherhood official and adviser to Morsi, el-Haddad served for five years as a top official at the Clinton Foundation, a nonprofit group founded by former President Bill Clinton.
El-Haddad gained a reputation for pushing the Muslim Brotherhood’s Islamist agenda in the foreign press, where he was often quoted defending the Brotherhood’s crackdown on civil liberties in Egypt.

He was raised in a family of prominent Brotherhood supporters and became the public face of the Islamist organization soon after leaving his post at the Clinton Foundation. However, much of his official work with the Brotherhood took place while he was still claiming to be employed by the Clinton Foundation.

That’s bringing coziness to new heights.

This raises the question of how deeply committed the Obama administration is to the narrative that Islam is a fundamentally pacific ideology whose reputation for gentleness is only occasionally marred by a few misguided and miserable souls. They seem determined to push that story on the public come what may.

One of the problems with that storyline is that it is patently false. The Islamic world is currently convulsed by a widespread sectarian conflict between Sunni and Shia, a rivalry which with Iran’s pending acquisition of the atomic bomb, threatens to go nuclear.

Anyone with access to the Internet can readily see that vast numbers of people — a hundred thousand in Syria alone — are dying in its myriad battlefields, and although the deaths among Christians may be great in number (even if the papers refuse to pay much attention to events like the recent attack on Zamboanga City) the deaths among Muslims are even greater.

A search on “mosque blast” in Google readily reveals that Muslims are blowing up mosques even faster than they are wrecking churches and malls.

"No Ugly or Fat People on the Rope Line!" Remembering a Visit by Hillary Clinton

The DiploMad give us an insight into the kind of monster who wants to be the next president.  What brought this to mind was a story from the Miami Herald
At one point, a member of the audience, Andrew Rothberg, had his Galaxy Note II smartphone taken from him by security, which removed his picture of Clinton onstage and then gave his device back in front of a Miami Herald reporter in the auditorium stands.
Anyway, back to the DiploMad in Panama told to arrange for a Hillary visit.
I was reminded of the above event in Panama by a news story out a couple of days ago reporting on a Hillary Clinton event in Miami. It seems that her security personnel seized the camera from a member of audience and deleted a picture taken of her. It reminded me of the sort of demands we got from Hillary's staff.

First Lady of the USA (FLOTUS) Hillary Rodham Clinton was coming to Panama to participate in the First Ladies of the Americas Summit. The Embassy, of course, got tasked with working with FLOTUS staff to prepare her visit. Yours truly, at the time, Minister Counselor for Political and Economic Affairs, got tagged with taking the point in dealing with that staff.

Her staff proved unbelievably arrogant and ignorant. They had zero interest in Panama, and only went along to see some sites because they had to do so. We had been told FLOTUS wanted activities after the "summit" that would strengthen US-Panama relations. The staff had no interest in the long US-Panamanian relationship, had no interest in the Canal, or in the very well run Panama Canal Museum. In the end, they decided that FLOTUS should do "something with Indians, you know, Indians." They decided that she should have a photo-op at an Indian village reading to the kids and telling them about the importance of an education. The whole silly thing nearly came off the rails when the staff insisted that FLOTUS have secure telephone communication everywhere she went, including in the Indian village. I remember asking one staffer, "Why does she need secure commo? Is she going to be calling in the B-52s?" That did not endear me to the staffers, but in the end they had to give up the demand because of cost.

We set up an absurd visit to a semi-fake Indian village just outside of the capital. Her people decided that the village, located in the jungle, did not look "jungly enough." They went and rented huge numbers of big plants and had them trucked into the village to make it look more "jungly" for the video of Hillary reading to Indian kids.

Now, what reminded me of all this when I read about her security grabbing a camera in Miami? FLOTUS staff made it clear to us, and the Secret Service agents confirmed, that Hillary did not want anybody getting closer than ten feet to her -- including her security--and that nobody should ask for autographs. I took offense at that, and noted to her staffer, "Our people are professionals. We see a lot of celebrities. Nobody is going to ask for an autograph."

Well the visit happened; HIllary decided to have a "rope line" at the airport so that as she was leaving she could shake hands with some of the people from the Embassy who had made her visit possible. A female staffer approached me the day before, and sheepishly began talking about the "sort of people" Hillary wanted in her pictures. She said that the pictures should have a "certain look." She kept beating about the bush re the rope line, and suddenly a light went on in my dim brain, "She doesn't want fat or ugly people in her pictures, right?" The staffer nodded. I said, "OK, I'll be sure to pass that on."

From the comments:

Story from a AF EOD guy. He was on loan to the SS at an event, HRC told him to bus a table, he told her it wasn't his job. She tried to derail his career, but his CO prevented it. What a bitch.
This is what the Ruling Class do.

Democrats hired Allan Brauer as a spokesman

This is their party.  Stomach turning.

Exposed: Death-wish Democrat official Allan Brauer’s long history of online hate, misogyny & GOP kid-bashing

What's amazing is that with people like this in their camp they still managed to sell the "War on women."  On second thought, it's not so amazing.  The media will sell anything, cover up anything, as long as you agree that aborting her children is a woman's foremost right.

Who never said it?

"Whoever is not a socialist when he is 20 has no heart; whoever is not a conservative when he is 30 has no brain."

Everyone has heard that comment which is supposed to be something said by Winston Churchill. And if you look puzzled because you have no idea who Churchill was, you're a recent graduate of academia. But it turn out that there is no evidence that Churchill never said it.

There are lots of things that are attributed to famous men that they never said, but the attribution is an appeal to authority. If Churchill said it, or Jefferson or Washington it must be profound, right? Well, no.
The Wrongly Attributed Statement is a phenomenon I've experienced all too often. I first encountered it in 2000, when I was writing an article for the magazine Lingua Franca and trying to find the source for Churchill's quip, "Whoever is not a socialist when he is 20 has no heart; whoever is not a conservative when he is 30 has no brain." But every citation I found led me only to another citation. A would cite B. I'd follow up with B only to discover that B cited C, which cited D, which cited A. Books of quotations referred to other books of quotations. I posted queries online, but scholars either didn't know or claimed that someone else had said it. (Briand and Clemenceau were favorite candidates, but when I pursued them, I found myself tumbling down the same rabbit hole of citations.) Finally, in frustration, I called the editor of Bartlett's Familiar Quotations; I think it was Justin Kaplan. He said it couldn't have been Churchill. And that was enough for me. What choice did I have?

The WAS is not just a thing, you see, it's an experience. A quote floats in your head for years, resting in cloistered obscurity. One day you decide to use it in a book or an article. You look it up to get the exact wording and to cite the original source. But you find multiple wordings and no credible source. You keep looking, only to find that no one ever said it (at least not that anyone knows of). You keep looking, if for no other reason than to redeem the time you've already wasted. If you're lucky, you'll finally find someone—often someone you've never heard of—saying it. More often you find that no one said it at all.

Read the whole thing.

No AR-15? No “high capacity magazine?” Aaron Alexis destroys gun grabber claims.

The wheels came off the gun grabber narrative yesterday. The mass murderer at the Navy Yard was widely reported to have all the accoutrements. AR-15 rifle (which of course comes with a high capacity magazine)? Check. Automatic pistol? Check.

The narrative virtually demands that mass murderers wield a semi-automatic rifle with a large capacity magazine. But it turns out that Aaron Alexis came armed with a shotgun. The pistol was taken from policeman he shot. So all the bugaboos of the gun control nuts were missing. Shotguns don’t come with “high capacity” magazines; most hold 5 shells, max.

So what does that do to the narrative that the way to end mass shooting is to ban rifles that look like the AR-15 and limit magazine capacity?  If there was ever a “teachable moment” that demonstrates that the problem resides with the killer, not with the weapon, the shooting spree at the Washington Navy Yard by Aaron Alexis demonstrates this with brutal and deadly accuracy.

Why Generation Y Yuppies Are Unhappy

GYPSYs Are Wildly Ambitious
2013-09-15-Geny9.jpg
The GYPSY needs a lot more from a career than a nice green lawn of prosperity and security. The fact is, a green lawn isn't quite exceptional or unique enough for a GYPSY. Where the Baby Boomers wanted to live The American Dream, GYPSYs want to live Their Own Personal Dream.

Read the whole thing.

To be clear, GYPSYs want economic prosperity just like their parents did -- they just also want to be fulfilled by their career in a way their parents didn't think about as much.
But something else is happening too. While the career goals of Gen Y as a whole have become much more particular and ambitious, Lucy has been given a second message throughout her childhood as well:
2013-09-15-Geny12.jpg

This would probably be a good time to bring in our second fact about GYPSYs:
GYPSYs Are Delusional

Congress’s Exemption from Obamacare

Make Congress get insurance the same way the little people do? Hill denizens howl in fury.

The Senate may still have a reputation as a genteel club, but lawmakers seemed to abandon rules of decorum completely last week in arguments about whether Congress should be treated like the rest of the country when it comes to Obamacare.

Senator David Vitter, a Louisiana Republican, has demanded a floor vote on his bill to end an exemption that members of Congress and their staffs are slated to get that will make them the only participants in the new Obamacare exchanges to receive generous subsidies from their employer to pay for their health insurance. Angry Senate Democrats have drafted legislation that dredges up a 2007 prostitution scandal involving Vitter. The confrontation is a perfect illustration of just how wide the gulf in attitudes is between the Beltway and the rest of the country — and how viciously Capitol Hill denizens will fight for their privileges....

The Congressional Leadership Empire decided to strike back at Vitter. Politico reported that several Democratic senators have asked staff to draft legislation that would deny federal health subsidies to anyone who votes for the Vitter plan, even if Vitter’s plan doesn’t become law. An even more spiteful draft bill would bar subsidies to any lawmaker or aide found by a congressional ethics committee to have “engaged in the solicitation of prostitution.” In 2007, Vitter’s phone number was found in the records of the “D.C. Madam,” the owner of a high-end prostitution ring. Back then, Vitter held a news conference with his wife standing next to him and apologized for a “serious sin” that he refused to discuss further. He was reelected with 57 percent of the vote in 2010.

Vitter isn’t taking the attempts to strong-arm him quietly. “Harry Reid is acting like an old-time Vegas mafia thug, and a desperate one at that,” he said in a statement to Politico. He also wrote a letter to the Senate Ethics Committee demanding an investigation of Reid and Democratic senator Barbara Boxer of California. “Threatening to take away their colleagues’ health care coverage subsidy if they do not vote a certain way, at worst constitutes bribery and a quid pro quo arrangement, and at best amounts to improper conduct,” he wrote. Senator Reid’s office responded by calling Vitter’s charges “absurd and baseless.”

What Vitter’s opponents fear most is that this fight will penetrate the public’s consciousness. A new poll taken for Independent Women’s Voice, a conservative group, found that 92 percent of voters think Congress shouldn’t be exempted from the insurance provisions of Obamacare. Most voters blame both parties equally for the exemption, which means Republicans will also be hurt politically if it stands. “This is an issue with almost unprecedented intensity,” IWV president Heather Higgins told me. “Republicans have the choice of leading the Vitter parade for repeal or getting run over by it. To duck it will be viewed by their constituents as political malpractice.”

Sharyl Attkisson Spotlights Benghazi Inquiry; First On-Air Report in Over 4 Months

On Monday's CBS This Morning, Sharyl Attkisson pointed out the "potential conflict of interest" in the ongoing controversy over the Islamist attack on the U.S. compound in Benghazi, Libya. Attkisson detailed how congressional Republican are scrutinizing Undersecretary of State Patrick Kennedy's involvement in naming staff to the Accountability Review Board, even as it was investigating his role in the lead-up to the September 11, 2012 attack.

Just as it's easy to win an election if you get to count the ballots, it's easy to create a cover-up if you get to appoint the ones that perform the cover-up.

Oh, and those Benghazi survivors?
On September 10, 2013, Attkisson reported on Twitter that Secretary of State John Kerry "tells [C]ongress he will not honor the request to make Benghazi survivors available for questioning." Her scoop about Kerry never made it to the air on CBS's morning and evening newscasts.

Obamacare will question your sex life

Some of the questions you're going to have to answer under ObamaCare.

‘Are you sexually active? If so, with one partner, multiple partners or same-sex partners?”
Where are the feminists?

Where are the women’s rights groups that went to the barricades in the 1980s and 1990s to prevent the federal government from accessing a woman’s health records? Hypocritically, they are silent now.

Russia MP in racism row over 'Obama banana' image

You shall have no other gods before Obama. Obama is not mocked. Bananas are racist, along with everything else.

After the post sparked a storm of disgust on Saturday, Rodnina deleted the message, but insisted she believed she had done nothing wrong.

"Freedom of speech is freedom of speech! Deal with your hangups yourself," she wrote defiantly on Twitter, saying the post had boosted her rating.

A member of the lower house's ethics committee, Yan Zelinsky concurred in comments to Russian News Service radio.

"She sees the President of the United States as liking bananas. What's the big deal?"

"Freedom of speech is freedom of speech! Deal with your hangups yourself,"  I like this lady.

This isn't a library, it's a police station with books.

In an article entitled Man Faces Assault Charges For Chair Attack At San Francisco Main Library, we find out where the SF homeless go when they're off the street.
The main branch, located at 100 Larkin Street, is just across from Civic Center Plaza, City Hall and isn’t too far from the Tenderloin District.

“This is, you know, a very urban neighborhood, certainly. But the library is a very democratic institution,” said library spokeswoman Michelle Jeffers. “Possibly the greatest democratic institution and we are open to everyone.”

According to Jeffers, there were 3,400 incidents at the library last fiscal year. While the number sounds high, Jeffers said an incident could range from being anything from someone sleeping in a chair to an assault, which according to her is very rare. The year before, there were more than 4,500 such incidents.

In this instance, a 25 year-old man hit another man over the head with a chair.

The homeless and the mentally ill congregate at the main library, which can be intimidating to some. But a patron visiting from Chicago told KCBS that it feels safer at the San Francisco library than the one where he is from.

That's not an endorsement of San Francisco but a well-deserved put-down of Chicago.

A San Francisco police sergeant will aid 16 security officers at the main branch starting on Monday. Officials said the assignment was made before Wednesday’s attack.

Does your library need 16 security officers plus a police sergeant? Aren't you glad you don't need to go to the San Francisco library?  This isn't a library, it's a police station with books.

Despite the unusual attack, officials maintained the library is still a safe place and that it attracts all kinds of people.

"It attracts all kind of people." Yes it does.

Paula Deen Gets Standing Ovation at Cooking Show

Paula Deen is not the modern day Bull Connor even though the Liberals tried to paint her as an his little sister. They did that because they need to pretend that no progress has been made and they are still relevant as the vanguard of the civil rights movement, freeing slaves in 2013. What they have become are an a profitable industry, making tons of money by extortion and demonizing vulnerable people.

Celebrity cook Paula Deen fought back tears as she was greeted by a supportive crowd during an appearance at a Houston cooking show....

The Houston Chronicle reports (http://bit.ly/191PCco ) about 1,500 people gave Deen a standing ovation Saturday when she appeared at the Metropolitan Cooking & Entertaining Show. She told them their hearts were "as big as your state."

No Hate? -- Bombshell Book: Matthew Shepard Tortured, Murdered by Gay Lover

Well, that puts a different light on one of gaydom's holiest martyrs.

Even before Shepard died, two of his friends were peddling the narrative that he died at the hands of vicious homophobes. Within days the gay establishment latched onto what would drive the hate crimes story for years to come; even now, the Laramie Project, a stage play about the killing is performed all over the country. Indeed, it will be performed next week at Ford’s Theater in Washington DC.

But what really happened to Matthew Shepard?

He was beaten, tortured, and killed by one or both of the men now serving life sentences. But it turns out, according to Jiminez, that Shepard was a meth dealer himself and he was friends and sex partners with the man who led in his killing. Indeed, his killer may have killed him because Shepard allegedly came into possession of a large amount of methamphetamine and refused to give it up.

The book also shows that Shepard’s killer was on a five-day meth binge at the time of the killing.

So much of what we think we know, or have been told about events that are the building blocks of the Liberal agenda are lies. It didn't start with Tawana Brawley.  It's practically a daily feature of life.  The rape hoaxes, the race hoaxes, the global warming hoaxes are all exploited to advance a cause. They are eagerly sought, seized and wielded as weapons in the culture war.  Like the shootings at Aurora and Newtown were used to prey on people's natural compassion to advance an agenda that is profoundly anti-democratic and anti-freedom.  And since the people who write the "instant history" that is the news are also very deeply committed to the Liberal causes, you can be sure that there will be little skepticism when people like Matthew Shepard are shaped and molded into things that they are not.  Academia reinforces and puts its imprimatur on these fables by turning out "learned papers" on why straight white males look for the opportunity to kill gay men.  And of course no morality play would be complete without Hollywood chiming in.

The agenda of the sexual left lives on lies. As we all know now, the back-story that brought us Roe v. Wade was a lie. And here we find the Matthew Shepard story was also a lie.

At this point we only have a book that turns the Matthew Shepard story upside down. But we have been the victims of enough hoaxes, and there are many people who have profited from selling these hoaxes, that this book needs to be examined and its claims evaluated.
