“Do it for Trayvon Martin” gang attack goes unreported … till now.

At a busy intersection, four blocks from newspaper headquarters, two white people in a car were attacked by a gang of black “joots” and beaten.  A beating at Church and Brambleton is not in the news section of the paper.  It’s an op-ed written by editorial writer Michelle Washington.  But it has not been reported before … why?
“… editors hesitated to assign a story about their own employees. Would it seem like the paper treated its employees differently from other crime victims?”
Really?  A gang attacks a couple in their way home:
“They had stopped at a red light, in a crowd of at least 100 young people walking on the sidewalk. Rostami locked her car door. Someone threw a rock at her window. Forster got out to confront the rock-thrower, and that's when the beating began. …
The victim's friend, a young woman, tried to pull him back into his car. Attackers came after her, pulling her hair, punching her head and causing a bloody scratch to the surface of her eye. She called 911. A recording told her all lines were busy. She called again. Busy. On her third try, she got through and, hysterical, could scream only their location.”

The police who answered the call were not going to make any arrests:
“When Rostami, who admits she was hysterical, tried to describe what had happened, she says the officer told her to shut up and get in the car. Both said the officer did not record any names of witnesses who stopped to help. Rostami said the officer told them the attackers were "probably juveniles anyway. What are we going to do? Find their parents and tell them?"”

The cops knew the neighborhood and had seen it all before:
“The officer pointed to public housing in the area and said large groups of teenagers look for trouble on the weekends. "It's what they do," he told Forster.
Checking twitter, the male victim found this:
"I feel for the white man who got beat up at the light," wrote one person.
"I don't," wrote another, indicating laughter. "(do it for trayvon martin)"
It’s almost at the end of this story, but here’s the punch line:
“Forster and Rostami, both white, suffered a beating at the hands of a crowd of black teenagers.”

Shocker!

What can we deduce from this little episode that ended with bruises and a new phobia on the part of the woman victim?  Attacks like this are common enough for the police to treat it like a purse snatching or petty theft from a grocery store.  It gets reported on the police blotter but never solved.  The story doesn’t get reported in the news section  of the paper because the Virginian Pilot is nothing if not politically correct.  Here they had a gang attack on their own employees, eyewitness accounts, and I don’t believe for a moment the reason given by the editors.

The reason it’s not reported is because it doesn’t fit the narrative and hits too close to home.  The narrative on interracial crime has to have a black victim; if it doesn’t fit the narrative, it’s not news.  The fact that you can get the snot beaten out of you by a black gang in downtown Norfolk doesn’t fit the image of Norfolk as a haven of racial peace, especially if gang attacks are so common that the police say "It's what they do."

There is an old saying; a conservative is a liberal who’s been mugged.  There’s a follow-up to that; if they are still liberal, mug them again.  If they work for the Virginian Pilot, it’s probably a lost cause.

UPDATE:  The story that appeared, not on the news pages of the Virginian Pilot but on the editorial page, has created a firestorm of criticism for the editors of the Virginian Pilot. No one believes their excuse because, frankly, it’s lame. But the gang beating, the racial taunts are part of a larger series of events that are arguably the result of the MSM’s theme. If you take a crime and make it symbolic of a larger theme you cannot disclaim responsibility for the consequences. The killing of Martin by Zimmerman gave the press a reason to “wave the bloody shirt.” So far 15 whites have been beaten.  To read the stories, the events in Florida were Selma all over again and whites were hunting down blacks for sport. Tell that story loudly and often enough to people who have been conditioned by a lifetime to believe that “The Man” is out to get them and when you get a big enough crowd together and enough beer, guess what you’re going to get?
The media that doctored evidence to give the incident a racist spin, the politicians that echoed it when they saw a political advantage in parroting disinformation, and the racial grievance industry that fanned the flames of racial discord have downplayed the incidents of violence they nurtured.

And when your own people get victimized, you cover up, because you know what you did but don’t want to admit it. It’s all good when your words and pictures make others your victim, but when it comes close to home it’s time to change the subject.  More on this in the future.

Heard this story on WNIS this morning. They had a lot of your same questions. Why was this not news?!

...sad

Why would anyone travel through this neighborhood and not carry a firearm? Assault begins once the attacker threw a rock against the car window. The victim could have legally fired back with lethal force in self defense.
